Hispanic Voters in This Pennsylvania City Are Shifting Toward the GOP. Both Parties Want to Know Why
WSJ ^ | Dec 28 | By Aaron Zitner

READING, Pa.—Joseph Nuñez at first didn’t like Donald Trump. “I couldn’t stand the guy. I didn’t like the way he spoke about Hispanics or people in general,” he said. But by 2020, Mr. Nuñez had become a fan of Mr. Trump’s style and priorities, and he voted in favor of giving the president a second term.

So did many other Latino voters in this working-class city who had once backed Democrats or, like Mr. Nuñez, had skipped elections altogether. Now, as political strategists continue to sift through the 2020 election results, the emergence of these newly Republican voters is setting off alarm bells within the Democratic Party.

Nationwide, Mr. Trump’s share of the Latino vote grew by 8 percentage points compared with 2016, an analysis by Catalist, a Democratic voter-data firm found earlier this year. New calculations by the firm find that while then-candidate Joe Biden won 61% of Latino voters, the shift toward the GOP meant that he carried the group by about 750,000 votes less than had Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee four years earlier.

That erosion is a danger sign for the party, given that President Biden’s winning margin in five states was less than 100,000 votes.

....

“The economy, the issue on which they trusted Trump, unlocked the door to embracing him,” Mr. Odio said.

At the same time, many Latino voters came to view the Democratic Party as untethered from their top concerns—unsupportive of law enforcement, too lax on border security and too focused on racial disparities, said Ruy Teixeira, a demographics expert and co-editor of The Liberal Patriot newsletter. Among other things, this brought the GOP new votes from Hispanic voters who have a conservative bent but hadn’t acted on it, he said.

People with any brains at all (who are not mentally I’ll or impaired by the Wokeness Virus) understand the difference between the past 4 years of the Rrump Presidency and the colossal train wreck of the #JihadJunta Cabal.

As long as they are confused, they will continue to pursue counteractive measures that will not work.

Let ‘em.

Why? Because they know that things were much,*much* better under Trump and because they know that open borders are bad news for the country in general and *really* bad news for them in particular.

Also wide spread voter theft exists in black controlled inner cities. In Philly some districts routinely report 100% voter participation. This tends to daze and confuse Mitch $ McCarthy, not to mention our Republican pom-pom posters.

Black women are the chief problem for the GOP, and white women who sometimes (stupidly) vote with them. They do not share the same interests. Black women, more than any other group, have a strong interest in both big government (as the #1 recipients of affirmative action jobs at the Fed, state and local levels) and massive welfare programs, as the highest % group that are recipients of those programs. That leads them to the Democrats. And I really don't see how the GOP can change this even 1%. They must focus solely on White women, who went with Trump in 2016, but fell for the fear hysteria over Covid in 2020.

Black men, who have to compete for jobs with tens of millions of illegal aliens, are being red-pilled more and more. Hispanics, who mostly come from traditions strong in Catholic values and conservative beliefs, are likely horrified by Democrats' embrace of transLGBTXpedophilia and recognize the threat to their children. Ironically, despite AOC rhetoric, they also have to compete with illegal aliens for jobs and in places like Texas, Hispanics support stronger border and LESS immigration.

Pretty sure Reading was one with Trump country in 2016. Most of central PA is level-headed. Pockets of insanity in the colleges, however. :(

“given that President Biden’s winning margin in five states was less than 100,000 votes”

He didn’t “win”. He got at least 10 million fake, phony, fraud mail in ballots that should have been thrown out.

Communist Puppet Biden was “installed” NOT “elected”.

These voters aren't shifting to the GOP.

They shifted to Trump.

The GOP ignores this fact at its peril.

“The answer is Trump, and it doesn’t surprise me that Republican are dazed and confused.”

The Republicans are still trying to find someone who speaks Hispanic and thus can interview these voters.
