Sen. Joe Manchin reportedly told the White House last week that he would be willing to support a version of the billionaire tax in President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, in a reversal from his previous criticism .
Three people familiar with his private offer informed the Washington Post this week of his endorsement of the plan, saying it was included in a list of spending and revenue proposals that he supports. It remains unclear if the West Virginian Democrat included a revenue estimate.

Nor do I. But consider the source, the WaPo. This could very easily be a made up story.
Why would you trust him? He's a politician, and a Democrat. Hell, you can't even trust anyone with an R behind their name these days.
“Three people familiar...”
Sure thing, Jan
Media stirring the pot...There is no news except people lining up to get Covid tested....but why is my question. Unless you’re visiting Grandma and Grandpa...what’s the point??
A few more years of accelerating inflation, and we’ll all be billionaires.
Lukewarm doesn’t get it. He needs a “come to Jesus” experience. Take his eyes off himself and put them on Jesus.
The tax breaks for blue state billionaires cannot be taken out of the bill. Democrats have to reward them or they don’t get donations.
Build Better Back is a huge tax cut for the wealthy.
And we will all be in the 90% tax bracket.
Manchin is a Democrat.
Voted for impeachment of Trump twice.
They are too stupid to understand that Elon Musk and other billinaires creat more jobs and growth and progress, by keeping more of their money.
<>In order to pass the Build Back Better Act, Democrats must have all 50 votes in the Senate – leaving Manchin to be a key vote.<>
We shouldn’t trust Murkowski or Romney to oppose Build Back Broke. I wouldn’t be surprised if Murkowski goes scorched earth as her polling numbers for reelection plummet.
Inviting him into the Republican Party would be a mistake. He takes the right positions on occasion because he is a Democrat trying to survive politically in a Conservative and Republican state. As such he is much more valuable as an apparently intelligent Democrat. We need him to stay right where he is organizationally.
Agreed. And then he needs to retire in '24. He's old anyway.
I don’t either.
The $170k/yr. job for his wife wasn’t close to being enough.
He wants enough ‘incentive’ to join the top 50 millionaire congressmen.
Then he’ll be all in for FJB programs.
Agree he’s holding the aces for a sweetheart deal.
