Data shows asymptomatic individuals not spreading COVID-19, NFL chief medical officer says

The NFL's new COVID-19 protocols are based on data that shows the disease is not spreading from asymptomatic individuals, according to chief medical officer Allen Sills, a significant departure from the stance of public health authorities for much of the pandemic.

I have always suspected this to be the case.
I think everyone who gets it has symptoms, some milder than others, but at a minimum there would be headache and cold symptoms. I believe there are/were plenty of people going about business as usual thinking (or hoping) they simply had a cold and this is how they spread it around. A friend of mine had it last year and said for days she felt like she had a regular cold, but was able to do housework, etc. Day 5 she woke up with a fever and a raging headache and hurt from head to toe.

Think of how many people in the past refuse to stay home for a “little old head cold” and proceed to spread it all over their work place. I’ve done it. In my younger years I went out drinking and dancing when I had a cold.

We would have learned a lot about the risks of COVID-19 from the beginning of the use of the PCR test if statistics on the number of amplification cycles needed before tests showed a positive had been publicized. It is possible that where an extremely large number of amplifications was used, far more people were determined to be positive than people who were actually ever sick with symptoms. Every person who got a positive reading should have been told the threshold at which their sample showed a positive.

Instead, most people have no idea that there is a possibility of a very large threshold being used which probably gives a false positive. I wonder if this data was even determined/retained so that scientists could actually study this in the future. Getting a false positive reading causes people great inconvenience, to say the least.

A false positive also provides no antibodies which would give later immune protection. I think this is one reason why there is such a push for vaccination for people who have “had“(tested positive) COVID-19. They never had it at all. Even so, they may have had to quarantine, shut down a school or a business etc. due to their positive test.

ESPN

Meanwhile, how many games are delayed due to multiple players out per team? I guess they all got symptoms at the exact same time? Else, why would someone put themselves around others while having symptoms?

It has always been true. Estimates ran from 0.5-1.0% of infections came from asymptomatic people. The original 40% figures came from China during the first month of publicly admitting it existed.

There was NEVER a reason for masks, etc. Just “If you feel a little sick, stay home!” That is all it takes to beat this crap!

Yeah, I think all this mask mania had people believing that, even if they had symptoms, they could slap on a mask and go about their business. Thus, the mask veneration had a paradoxical effect on covid transmission.

This week, lying sack-of-shit Fauci said “60% of transmissions are asymptomatic”. I haven’t looked at this in a while. I know, last year, the number was so low, people were questioning whether it was really anything to be concerned about.

I have been postulating that vaccinated people are spreading Covid MORE because, they are less symptomatic. Sick people self-isolate.

Well, at least maybe we can trust someone. A doctor, and from the NFL, to boot. Who figures NFL doc is going to be honest?

Could be.

THE QUESTION ALSO IS WHAT TESTS ARE BEING USED?

I hear the rapid tests are terribly unreliable. Which are they using?

This on the heels of the WHO admitting today you cannot vaccinate your way out of a pandemic.

I have said all along if you are asymptomatic you don’t have enough viral load to be contagious

what a shock.

not really.

you need a massive viral load to spread this CCP thing (or any virus that has a aerosol vector and you only get a massive viral load when you have significant symptoms.

but if you’re asymptomatic with a tiny load of virus, because you have memory immunity already to corona virus from a previous cold, you will of course test pos with rt pcr because that’s what rt pcr does, amplify tiny amounts of analyte.

They use rapid test but regardless.

Fact is this- there are about 65 players on an NFL roster, practice squad and all. Another 30-35 coaches and staff. That’s 100 players/staff usually on the field and in the facility every day. 100 people x 32 teams= 3200. All of them being tested, every day, for almost two full seasons now.

I dare say this is one of the most monitored groups you’ll find on a day in, day out basis for six months a year. I also dare say this is probably the most reliable date we’ll see- in this country anyway.

If the virus, SARS-2-CoV, is in the cells close to and/or alongside your airway piping, then you are very likely a spreader.

How efficiently you spread SARS-2-CoV, will vary. For example, being asymptomatic, you might not be as efficient -vs- your being symptomatic.

In addition, there are blood cell and immune system symptoms that are not noticeable in terms relative to much more obvious signs, such as “runny nose” and cough.

Such less obvious signs, may be mild congestion and inflammation that “you really did not notice.” Or, a “nervous tick” that you do notice, but do not realize that is a symptom.
