It's been known for quite some time that there's basis for thinking that "asymptomatic" transmission is a threat. Just as it's been known for quite some that outdoor transmission, even in crowds, is not a meaningful threat. It remains the case that the vast majority of transmission takes place in congregant settings (e.g., nursing homes), hospitals, and, to a lesser extent, domestic settings (at home, among family members).
Pretty much every single thing that the CDC has "recommended" for responding to the pandemic has been wrong, if not affirmatively counterproductive. Clean miss. The CDC should have been disbanded decades ago.

Queensland’s new Chief Health Officer John Gerrard has been telling people this week the spread of COVID-19 in the Sunshine State is not only inevitable — it’s “necessary”.
“In order for us to go from the pandemic phase to an endemic phase, the virus has to be widespread,” Dr Gerrard said.
“We all have to have immunity [and] there’s two ways you can do that – by being vaccinated or getting infected.
“Once we’ve done that, once the virus is spreading, once we all have some degree of immunity, the virus becomes endemic and that is what is going to happen.”
It is a message that may seem at odds with the concurrent messages to get tested, isolate following contact with an infected party, wear masks, and social distance wherever possible...
Dr Trauer (Monash University epidemiologist) said it would be a mistake to dismiss Omicron symptoms as mild.
“Queensland’s epidemic has only been going for a few days, and it takes people a while with COVID to get sick enough to need to be admitted to hospital,” he said.
“So the fact that one person has been admitted to hospital in Queensland so far is essentially no indication whatsoever of the severity of the epidemic that we can expect.
“As we transition to an endemic state, we will be able to get back to normal but that’s I think it’s at least three … probably six to 12 months away.”

They are NOT COVID patients.
A positive test 8 days after admission means the hospital basically gave the patient COVID.

Asserting that the bio-security police state will become a permanent fixture, Trent Twomey, National President of the Pharmacy Guild, says Aussies will have to get a COVID booster jab “every six months” if that’s what experts tell them to do.
“I think booster shots, just like your annual influenza shot [are] something we just need to accept, its [Covid-19] not going to be with us for many weeks and months, it’s going to be with us for many years,” said Twomey...
“It’s just something we’re gonna have to do,” he added. “[If] we need one every six months, then you know what Australia, let’s get one every six months.”
Twomey also insisted that mask wearing could remain “for a long time,” something he characterized as “not that inconvenient.”...

Mr Goldmsith’s most pressing issue was he needed to be vaccinated for his job as a courier driver, which involved delivering items to hospitals and aged care homes.
Unable to get vaccinated, Mr Goldsmith said he was fired a month ago.
“I went to another job interview and the bloke asked if I was vaccinated,” Mr Goldsmith said.
“I said, ‘no’ and I gave him the run-down of what has happened and he said, ‘I can’t give you a job until you are vaccinated’.”...
The error on his immunisation register had put him in a perilous financial position, Mr Goldsmith said.
“I’ve had to sell my car just so I can survive, so that I can pay my rent and bills and buy food,” he said.
“I need this sorted before I end up on the streets.”
Mr Goldsmith said the mistake also meant he would not be able to see his family at Christmas, as his nephew had leukemia and he did not want to risk potentially exposing him to the virus while unvaccinated...
