THE GIFT OF THE MAGI
Those of you who are more "mature" Marines & Sailors will remember one of the pre-eminent TV series of the '50's, Rod Serling's Twilight Zone. Many of these programs were quite scary, but they usually had a good moral and made the point in a rather unforgettable manner.
On one episode, an astronaut is readying for his blast off on a fifty-year mission to outer space. He is to be placed in a state of suspended animation and will not age one day by the time he returns to Earth. As fate has it, he meets a lovely woman the evening before launch, and it is love at first sight for both of them. They agonize over the love and marriage they will be unable to share because of the space voyage. The next morning his space flight begins. The woman is visibly shaken by the cruel plot fate played on the two of them. In the final scene, fifty years hence, NASA brings the rocket back to Earth. The capsule is opened and an aged man emerges from inside. He pulled the plug on the cryogenic machine before the launch. The face of his fiancée is then shown. She is still young and vibrant; she had herself placed in suspended animation on the day of the launch! One engineer then reflects: I feel blessed to have met two people who truly knew the meaning of love! End of program. These two people, motivated by real love, were prepared to make an unusual sacrifice for each other. Sometimes we forget that keeping love strong in marriage requires a commitment to LOVE...and like any commitment, that means dedication, work, sacrifice. Too many people give up on relationships when the going gets rough because they don't understand how much effort and sacrifice for one another is necessary to sustain a marriage. May we all realize the true meaning of love and marriage...and what is required to sustain this wonderful gift from above! Rod Serling's version

Sunday,
December 19, 2021Remembered in Prayer
Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her. Genesis 30:22
In the large African church, the pastor fell to his knees, praying to God. “Remember us!” As the pastor pleaded, the crowd responded, crying, “Remember us, Lord!” Watching this moment on YouTube, I was surprised that I shed tears too. The prayer was recorded months earlier. Yet it recalled childhood times when I heard our family’s pastor make the same plea to God. “Remember us, Lord!”
Hearing that prayer as a child, I’d wrongly assumed that God sometimes forgets about us. But God is all-knowing (Psalm 147:5; 1 John 3:20), He always sees us (Psalm 33:13–15), and He loves us beyond measure (Ephesians 3:17–19).
Even more, as we see in the Hebrew word zakar, meaning “remember,” when God “remembers” us, He acts for us. Zakar also means to act on a person’s behalf. Thus, when God “remembered” Noah and “all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark,” He then “sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded” (Genesis 8:1). When God “remembered” barren Rachel, He “listened to her and enabled her to conceive. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son” (30:22–23).
What a great plea of trust to ask God in prayer to remember us! He’ll decide how He answers. We can pray knowing, however, that our humble request asks God to move. — Patricia Raybon
In what area of your life do you need God to remember you? How willing are you to pray with such intent and purpose?
Dear heavenly Father, grow my understanding of Your remembrance of me. Then, where I need You to act, please remember me.

Howdy, Kathy.
I see the weatherman was correct about snow up there today. At least it wasn’t a lot ..... this round. there’s a big storm west of you that appears to be heading straight for you. It’s still a ways off but the clouds along the western horizon have any ugly look to them right now.
Hmmmmm, it’s spitting snow again at the airport now.

Good evening, radu, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
Did the cold hit yet? Hope you can stay inside and stay warm.
About an inch of new snow on the deck. So far almost all the snow this season is the light, fluffy stuff. My current goal is to shovel off a couple of steps down to the ground each time I shovel. Right now there is about 2 feet of snow on them. I need the escape route from upstairs.

Howdy, Kathy.
Yes, the colder air is moving in now. It was warm until right around sunset, then the front moved through. Now we’ll have a week of normal temps for December.
At least the snow you’re getting is giving you a bit of a break, being light and fluffy. Shoveling wet, heavy snow is a pain in the back. Might need to step it up to shoveling three steps each time. :-)

Here, too, darn it! And it’s cold tonight...we could have actually SEEN a cold moon. it’s the opposite of super moon this month. The smallest it can be. Read that on Farmer’s Almanac. :)

Hey there, radu! It was a great day. Cold but good. How are things there? Cold also?
Getting sooooo antsy to be there. The drive is long, but it’s not bad. We leave on this coming Thursday.
