Covington Catholic graduate Nicholas Sandmann says he reached another settlement with a member of news media, this time with NBC.
Sandmann, a 19-year-old from Kentucky, announced on social media he had reached the settlement. The settlement with NBC marks his third settlement with a news outlet following CNN and the Washington Post.
"At this time I would like to release that NBC and I have reached a settlement," Sandmann wrote Friday. "The terms are confidential."
Documents filed Friday in federal court in Kentucky showed both sides agreed to dismiss the case without a judgment from the court, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
Sandmann became the center of attention after a viral confrontation between him and a Native American man named Nathan Phillips at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., after attending events associated with the March for Life with classmates from Covington Catholic. Sandmann, wearing a "MAGA" hat, smiled at Phillips, an attendee of the Indigenous Peoples March who sang and played a drum in front of the teenager.

20K for the lawyerSo his attorneys put in 40-60 hrs and are happy with the bounty? No freakin' way. This is worth far more.
“Dog bites are easy.”
You’ve never lived through one.

That’s the way the cookie crumbles as long as the Supreme Court continues to give the media cover that the Constitution never intended.
NY Times v. Sullivan needs to be overturned.
Where’s the fake tribal elder when I needed him?
Kyle and everyone else with a case needs to do the same thing and send the fake media back to paper and pencils
...After which Sandmann departed for holiday vacation in his chauffeured Bentley.
Confidentiality? I would have said Hell no! Your lies were out in the open and your payment will be too! Don’t like it, see you in court, and good luck keeping the jury award confidencial.
It’s much more than $50K or $100K
Sandmann’s lawyers spent too much time and effort on it, and undoubtedly on contingency basis. It was in the millions. My guess would be upwards to 10% of the lawsuit amount.
When will he announce the new NBC show lineup?
“Sandmann became the center of attention after a viral confrontation...”
They still lie. There was no confrontation.
“Law&Crime is a lefty publication, from what I can tell.”
So’s TexasGurl.
All he posts is commie crap.
Qtards don’t like reality. It’s too easy to play pretend instead of dealing with facts.
There actually hasn’t been “much effort.” No trial. No extensive discovery. No depositions in several of the cases.
That alone speaks volumes.
I know that many people wish that Sandmann had made millions. That would be the correct and right result after what the media did to him.
I wish that he could have bankrupted CNN/NBC and the Washington Compost.
Wishing won’t make it so however.
The media hides behind the very Constitution that it wants to shred. It’s long past time that we remove the media’s protection and then let the law handle them when the misbehave.
As it stands right now, they get to sleep under the very blanket of protection that they are so desperate to destroy.
Why not? Bill Gates is.😁
Oh come on. A regular car crash lawsuit will get up to the limit of one’s policy in payouts, usually at least $50K to $100K... I am just astounded you’d think that’s all Sandmann’s contingency lawyers got, especially after having settled once before with WaPo (IIRC).
“Qtards don’t like reality. It’s too easy to play pretend instead of dealing with facts.”
I don’t see a denial but I see boilerplate (irrational) ad hom.
I’m responding in the same manner that you posted to me. You seem to think that you are worthy of something more than that?
LOL!
That’s categorically incorrect. At one time it was quite easy to get insurance companies to pay out on car crashes. Those days are LONG gone in most places. Insurance companies fight tooth and nail on settlements today.
If you have preexisting conditions and bad medical records? Forget it.
And winning a negligence suit is far easier than winning a libel suit where you have to overcome hurdle after hurdle.
All but three counts of the Washington Post lawsuit were dismissed before any discovery:
That alone demonstrates how difficult it is to move these cases against the protection that Sullivan affords.
Sorry, but I just don’t believe you.
No matter. Belief doesn’t change reality.
Many people have been conditioned by television shows to believe what you believe. It makes people feel better that they think the law works for them and protects them.
The law hasn’t worked that way for a long, long time.
We all want justice, but we don’t have that kind of system any more. The media runs amuck and it is very difficult to do anything of substance to them.
Justice Thomas and Justice Gorsuch recently pointed this out in a dissent. I’d encourage everyone to read it, because these two recognize how bad Sullivan is, and why it needs to be overruled:
