All of the charges against a suspect in a May shooting that killed three people and wounded 20 others outside of El Mula Banquet Hall in Miami have been dropped...
Warneric Buckner, 20, was charged with 20 counts of attempted murder and three counts of murder. However, he confessed to detectives after he requested an attorney — which is a violation of his constitutional rights.

This article isn’t clear. If he blurted out a confession after asking for an attorney that’s on him. Did they keep questioning him? Surely, they must have other evidence. A lot of perpetrators never confess, and they can still be convicted.
So if you want to get away with it, just ask for a lawyer and then scream a confession and you’ll get off..

So this murderer has more Constitutional rights than a duly elected President ( Trump ) who was spied on and lied about for 4 years and then an election stolen?
What? Was this the third string on the detective squad?
Has to be more to this story.
I will wait until I see corroboration on this before commenting.
A big screwup by the interrogating detective for sure. I guess the DA figures that without the confession, insufficient evidence exists to convict. This does not mean that they cannot recharge the suspect if other corroborating evidence or testimony arises that is unconnected to his ‘confession.’
We’ll just have to see how rigorously LE and DA pursue this going farther.
This is the plot of a “Dirty Harry” movie starring Clint Eastwood. It’s strange that they can’t find a single piece of corroborating evidence, so it could be a false confession.
The DA and police have screwed up. Perhaps, they should step forward and serve the time.
Yup,it's illegal...but it wouldn't be the first time a prosecutor has done something illegal.
The reporter is legit. Did good work from Florida reporting on the Gabby Petito/Brian Laundrie case.
This appears to be a Black gang related shooting. The arrival of the shooters is on a reasonably good surveillance video.
Three Black males - all masked and hooded - drove up to the rear entrance of this location, ran inside, and started shooting.
The "lookout" for the shooters was arrested at some point, and he is still in custody.
The guy being released is alleged to be one of the shooters on the video.
Best guess - the person who tipped the cops on this suspect is refusing to testify in court, or has disappeared.
“Unfortunately, for this detective, it was a rather huge mistake,” said former prosecutor David Weinstein. “Again, because this defendant invoked his right to counsel after he was in custody and did not want to talk without his lawyer present, the detective should have stopped questioning him.”
Your first right is the right to remain silent. He confessed and if it wasn’t coerced or beaten out of him, I fail to see demanding a lawyer has to do with anything. He had arighttoremIn silent, but he didn’t have the ability.
meh gang shooting, there will be someone waiting for him.
If I were that dude,I’d fall off the face of the planet real quick.
The story says that the cop kept questioning him. It must have been blatant in a way that really went over the top.
But, there was no other evidence? That just sounds odd to me. It sounds like there was no investigation at all.
