A surprising number of people seem to worship their religion more than their god.

Hi.

My religion teaches to follow Jesus and be his disciple.

Following Jesus has responsibilities and blessings.

One thing the Messiah said that if you follow Me the powers that be will persecute you, say and bring evil against you, and kill you.

Oh well, time to buy some more ammo.

Ironically, the ORIGINAL (1611, 1st edition) publication of the KJV DOES contain the Deuterocanonical books (Judith, Sirach, Maccabees, etc.) in a section labeled "Apocrypha".

Thus ironically, the ultimate protestant bible, the 1611 version of KJV, is more suitable to use as a "Catholic bible" than say, NIV (which contains only the 66 books from the protestant canon and was translated entirely by a team of evangelical protestants).

A New King James Version WITH "Apocrypha" included would be my ideal version for bible study, but I don't think such a publication exists.

They're selling a "King James Bible - 1611 Edition" on Amazon that purports to be a modern 21st century re-publication of the exact original 1611 text. How much the book lives up to this claim, I don't know.

Actually they do still print the KJV with apocrypha, but you have to hunt for them. Some of the prices are outrageous!

I hope I am not mistaken, but were there not songs sung in David’s temple?

I am far from Jewish, so do forgive me if I am mistaken.

Also, a rabbi? I thought it was IIRC, the “cantor” who led the music?

I sense that you have a lot of pent up emotion involved with God’s word. I hope you get all that worked out. There is nothing childish about submitting to Biblical teaching. A transcendent God has chosen to reveal Himself to us in His word and through His son. She obviously prefers a God she made up. That is very common even in churches. Most people would rather make up a God to suit them than submit to the God that is. The only problem with that is that your imagination can’t save you when you die. Only a true and living God can do that.

P.S. How would you know anything about my lifestyle?

P.P.S. The Bible is clear on what God thinks about those things she openly admits are her life choices.

Considering the “celibate” obtuse closet cases who ran the church I was raised in, to say nothing of the kool aid drinkers who minimize corruption in said denomination, it’s amazing that there are not more people rejecting religion.

“I just don’t feel like that gelled with my view of what God is and what God can be

God is not a what. He is the great I AM. He is our creator, not our creation.
