The high point of Alex Jones’ public life—and the moment that it all began going inarguably downhill—happened in the small hours of the morning after Election Day 2016, not long after Donald Trump declared victory.
“I already know my life’s purpose has been completed,” Jones said on air from behind the massive Infowars desk, his eyes watery and even more reddened than usual. “I will continue on. But for now, I realize, I have won.”
In the years since, Jones has tumbled precipitously, a descent that is, ironically, all due to his increased fame. Jones’ relationship with the former president—as well as Trump’s most notorious adviser, Roger Stone, who’s appeared on Infowars many times—brought him a new, rather white-hot level of scrutiny. Between 2018 and 2019, Infowars and Jones’ personal accounts were booted off an array of social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Spotify, and YouTube. Also in 2018, a group of Sandy Hook parents sued him in both Connecticut and Texas for his repeated claims that the mass shooting that killed their children in 2012 was a “giant hoax.” Jones and Infowars recently lost both cases by default, with the judges in both states ruling the company had failed to produce documents and financial and operational information required by discovery. Decisions on how much Infowars’ parent company, Free Speech Systems LLC, owes in damages are expected next year.
Jones has denied any connection to the violence of Jan. 6, and he was not in the Capitol himself. In impromptu remarks in front of a crowd on January 6, he said, “We declare 1776 against the New World Order… We need to understand we’re under attack, and we need to understand this is 21st-century warfare and get on a war-footing.”

This is why you need to support him in any way you can!
I think I’d rather just believe in Jesus and leave it to others to believe in Alex Jones.
I’d say Jones is in a better position that ever. Not only is he more well know, he’s taken more seriously.
I’ll summarize Stephen K. Bannon from last week on Jones, who said something like, “For all the craziness with Jones, he is very intelligent, and he has been right about the most important stories and trends for the last decade when no one else was paying attention to it.”
Correct. A lot of wishful thinking in this VICE piece. Still reading it.
Typical left wing hit job. Lots of words and guilt by insinuation. All they need to do is talk about riots and violence on January 6th and I clearly see the intent of this daffy piece.
Jones is a loudmouthed, unstable, bipolar nutcase, but there’s plenty of legitimate stuff he says every day that can discredit him. He routinely says ten different things about the outcome of something and then credits himself when one of them happens.
Is Vice another Lying leftist Media Outlet and who is Anna Merlan?
“...Still reading it...”
-
So you post articles that you haven’t even read yet?
That sounds strange...
This is undoubtedly written by her, but...
Anna Merlan is a New Mexico-born, Los Angeles-based journalist and author, specializing in subcultures, alternative communities, conspiracy theories, crime, belief, death, sexual violence and women’s lives. She is currently a reporter at Motherboard, a division of VICE.She was previously a reporter at the Special Projects Desk, an investigative division within Gizmodo Media Group, a senior reporter at Jezebel, and a staff writer at the Village Voice and the Dallas Observer.
Her work has also appeared in Rolling Stone, BBC Travel, Topic, and on the op-ed page of the New York Times.
My bet would be that, in the case of lengthy articles the vast majority of FReepers only skim then post for discussion. I don’t necessarily see any evil in that.
So she’s a left wing Alex Jones?
It’s only because Trump won that they went after him.
I expected no less from VICE.
Alex Jones isn’t going anywhere because his fanbase isn’t going anywhere. Even the Guardian had to grudgingly admit he is the #1 podcast on Spotify.
She could just be a young writer who's trying to make her bones and get established in the business. Maybe she feels like she has to do and say certain things, and take certain positions, in order to be taken seriously by the big players.
I'm thinking about how — after he passed away — I read an article about David Bowie that said that all his glitter and outrageous persona stuff was just what he needed to know to get noticed and build a career. All he wanted to be was a singer; the rest of it was just commercial packaging.
Actually that “honor” goes to Joe Rogan.
So many have discounted Alex Jones because he is loud and rather obnoxious. But he’s been right about so much.
LIES and 1/2 truths, maybe 1/8 truths.
Alex Jones was the proof-of-concept of purging the Internet of dissenting voices. A lot of people who have since been purged themselves were OK with Alex being purged because the First Amendment should not apply to people we don’t like.
Watch closely what they are doing to him. Denying him a trial by jury and forcing a star chamber on him where he is not allowed to present any evidence. They are saying he said things about Sandy Hook he never said, so they can’t allow an actual trial with actual evidence and an actual jury.
So go ahead and cheer when they throw Alex and Owen Shroyer in prison after their show trial because you don’t like them.
Just know that you are in the queue.
I ordered the survival food, shirts and InfoWars flag earlier this year.
It’s sad to think that you will now get more accurate journalism from Alex Jones & Infowars than any of the mainstream news sources.
Support a guy that lied about Sandy Hook? He’s a kook or con man.
