Of course a little development like this won’t stop Disney, Zuckerberg, McConnell, Biden, et al from kissing Chicom arse. The pay is just too good.

All the more reason to sink their commercial fleet in any war.

Of course China is building everything in secret, including additional nuclear ICBMs.

Club K’s...they have been around for a while and yes, they are real and likely dispersed throughout the country. Hidden in plain sight.

They gave us the virus and we did nothing.

It would be a devastating blow if they used EMPs to knock out our major ports.

On the one hand, we could, at a minimum, use our subs to retaliate. We could knock out the 3 Gorges Dam, hit their big cities and really devastate China.

We could.

But if they use the EMPs to knock out our ports, and then they follow up with a threat to use hyper-sonic thermonuclear devices against our population centers, I think there is an excellent chance that the Biden Admin would do nothing — except possibly apologize to the Globalists for our evil Western ways.

America ends. Western civilization ends. We just go out with a whimper. I can see it happening.

I was under the impression the US developed technology for detecting concealed nuclear weapons.

A new method of detection may mean safer shores

Is there any evidence that they did do this? It’s “could be” and “might” and lots of things could be and might be.

I’d speculate, since we are speculating here, that China wants world-wide hegemony, and Taiwan is their next target.

But I’d also speculate that they want to get richer while gaining world-wide hegemony, so they don’t want America, Russia, Australia, Japan and South Korea making a fuss about their takeover of Taiwan.

Pull a Pearl Harbor on the US, and even with Foe Jiden nominally at the helm, sh!t will fly right at them. Milley and his pals will be given sinecures, and the real generals and admirals will take over, and Foe Jiden and Congress will just rubber stamp whatever they want to do and they’ll do it. And however many carriers China has, US naval pilots are the best and most experienced carrier pilots in the world. The Chicoms have all the toys, but don’t know how to play.

Destroying the world economy does nothing for China. There is zero reason for them to attack anyone. And they would destroy the SLBMs that would destroy their country.

And hiding missiles in containers is not high tech, ground breaking news.

Why people get “excited” about this stuff is beyond me.

Ever notice all those “COSCO” containers? They’re everywhere

COSCO = China Overseas Shipping Co.

... and it’s connected to the Chinese military

I asked a man who has been in container shipping for 35 years about this threat. He asked me what did I think was in OUR containers? Hmmm...tit for tat?

Usually a link is required to post to another website. I know they don’t want to send the clicks that way necessarily, but I thought it should be included at the top.

Here it is for those looking for it.

...could be used after being smuggled into foreign ports all over the world...

I seriously doubt that. If these kinds of systems are a reality, they'll never see the inside of a foreign port.

Chinese culture includes such things as patience and careful planning. If they have developed missile systems in shipping containers (and why not, makes for convenient storage and transport), pre-positioning them would represent a huge risk.

All it would take would be one random inspection finding one and "the jig is up" as they say. Sure, only a fraction of containers get inspected, and officials can be bought or frightened or killed but... You don't plan for good luck. In fact if you plan for luck at all you plan for bad luck.

Pre-positioning would also be at the mercy of the port facility. What if your container is buried under a bunch of others?

Missiles have a shelf life - they need maintenance and checks to ensure they'll work. Kind of hard to do with a container simply sitting in a holding facility. Granted, that interval might be measured in months or years but it is not indefinite. They're not Twinkies. ;-)

Shipping containers are a good idea. They would allow you to get a launch platform very close for a surprise attack. But it is the kind of thing you can only do once. It would take a coordinated effort to synchronize getting the containers on the right ships, in the right positions on the ships, and getting the ships in position simultaneously. Finally, it is probably, almost certainly a one way trip for the ships. It wouldn't take a genius to figure out where the missiles came from and whatever country was attacked would no-doubt retaliate against the launch platforms.

Who needs missiles? I have been waiting for a shipping container nuke to go off in a major US port for over 2 decades. You dont need to shoot missiles long range when the enemy paid you to have you ship them a container full of spent uranium and a very explosive nuclear device. This would devastate Long Beach or New York harbor beyond habitability.

There are over 20 container receiving ports in the US. Take your pick, China. New York has over 1/4 million shipping containers waiting in idle right now. You dont even have to wait for the us to unload it. Surface burst in the middle of the harbor before the ship even ties to the pier and the party is over.

They do this and they would unleash hell upon themselves. there is plenty of traditional weapons out there that can smoke their pinko-commie behinds.

Why is this a surprise? I just though that this was logical - you have an aggressive, expansionist power, and such nations have traditionally violated every treaty (if there is even one on this subject to which China is a signatory - and I doubt that) and every norm of civilized behavior to maximize their power...or their ability to obtain more power via a surprise attack on more powerful enemies.

Hell, last night I watched “Pearl Harbor” (the 2001 movie) again. How naive we were to expect Japan, which even then had a reputation (earned by their surprise attack on Russia’s Far East fleet at Port Arthur in 1904) for violating international norms. Why on Earth would we think that China (which sprung a surprise attack on mainly US forces in Korea in 1950) would abide by such norms. They are engaged in genocide right now, they are (in violation of international law) building island bases in the Pacific and calling them their sovereign territory, they manipulate their currency in violation of agreements, etc., etc. Why would anyone think otherwise about cruise missiles in cargo chips?

The solution here is to:

1) Have a US administration that actually understands China’s aggressiveness and wishes to push back against it (we had one of those until about 11 months ago, and hopefully will in about 3 years, but for now we’re screwed);

2) Require as a prerequisite to being able to import goods into this country that ALL other nations have their cargo containers and ships inspected by US inspectors at their port of departure. Don’t like it, too damned bad - then sell your products somewhere else. They pay for the inspections on a per container or per ship basis (and more for larger ships); that will pay for the inspectors and their equipment, and the inspectors will not only be looking for missiles and nuclear material, but also infectious cargo, bugs, invasive species of animals and plants, etc. IOW, this would be a program aimed at protecting the US and its population from a hostile power, and it would employ a lot of US citizens.

3) Institute the controls over immigration that the Trump Administration had in effect when it left office - but do that from Day One.

4) Limit, by over 90%, the number of Chinese nationals able to be in this country working and/or going to school. I have been unable to see any benefit to this country from such activities, whereas the opportunities for China to spy on us or sabotage us are legion, and even if there was none of that (in some fantasy world), we would still be educating and giving practical experience to our largest and most dangerous economic and political/military enemy. What the Hell is wrong with us? Are the Russians under Putin (arguably a very patriotic and nationalistic leader, whatever his other qualities and actions) allowing anything at all like this with their competitors/enemies? Nope, not a chance...which begs the question of why we’re being so damned stupid, and have been for decades with little hope (other than 4 years under Trump) for any change of attitude or action.

They used to monitor ports and even cities for radiation.

If there are nukes, the coast guard should be able to find them.

The radiation detectors are so sensitive we docs were told to give letters to patients who had certain scans in case they were stopped by the cops or at the airport.
