The world’s first plant-based COVID-19 vaccine candidate has proven to be more than 75% effective against preventing the Delta variant of the virus, a Canadian drugmaker said Tuesday.
Medicago’s vaccine was 75.3% effective against the variant when enhanced with GlaxoSmithKline’s booster, according to a late-stage study from both companies.
“These are encouraging results given data were obtained in an environment with no ancestral virus circulating. The global COVID-19 pandemic is continuing to show new facets with the current dominance of the Delta variant, upcoming Omicron, and other variants likely to follow,” GSK Chief Global Health Officer Thomas Breuer said in a statement.

I wouldn’t be so quick to joke around:
“There are two options for vaccine administration: injection (intramuscular or subcutaneous) and mucosal (oral or nasal) administration. Injection-type vaccines elicit strong protective immunity by preferentially inducing IgG production. They are most suitable against pathogens that infect via a systemic or respiratory route; however, the antigens have to be purified before administration. These vaccines are often produced in tobacco plants using transient expression.
Oral- or nasal-type vaccines induce mucosal and systemic immunity [Azegami et al. 2014; Lamichhane et al. 2014]. In a conceptual sense, oral plant-based vaccines are ideal because the manufacturing process is simple; no additional medical devices are needed for injection; and the antigen immunogenicity and biological activities are preserved in the gastrointestinal tract due to their natural bioencapsulation in a plant cell organelle. Oral plant-based vaccines have been developed in edible plants, including rice, maize, potato, lettuce, and carrot. Once these vaccines pass through the gastric environment and reach the small intestine, antigens are incorporated into M cells in the follicle-associated epithelium (FAE) for the induction of mucosal and systemic immune responses [Azegami et al. 2014; Holmgren and Czerkinsky, 2005].”
Translated: This is the technology which puts the ‘vaccines’ in our food.

Is the plant Tobacco?
Vegan...
It’s tomorrow today...
I’m amazed that these people still expect to be believed.
This is poisoning the food supply.
Weed
No argument there.
I can’t wait for some dipshit to crow in my presence about how beneficial this will be.
Well, they are called shots.
None of that! Only the vax can save you. Truly has been implied by useful id*&^ on this forum. Get the booster, I mean the boosters. The vaccines are effective.
>These vaccines are often produced in tobacco plants using transient expression.
Anyone here play Far Cry 6 yet?
So we can get high and get protected at the same time! I'd call that a win/win.
Foods contain immune system-strengthening vitamin D3, eggs for example.
I will laugh out loud if it turns out to be thistles or some other nuisance.
What’s next? Sunshine and exercise?

Exactly, that said, I will NEVER get a clot shot OR any other vaccine the rest of my years. Our medicine profession and drug makers have lost all my trust. The vaxes are a total failure. They have exposed themselves for what vermin they are. I live in a state that I was able to use my Religious exemption and have to say my last one in the house has not received any vaxes ( except tetanus and a hepatitis shot) in 14 years.
Very sparse info in the article.
I heard of this vaccine being developed since the beginning of covid. They are evidently taking their time instead of firing out toxic crap like their competitors. If their vaccine has no toxic spike protein it would be a radical departure from what’s available now.
But we’re still talking about a disease that’s over 99% survivable for most.
