JOHANNESBURG — Some South Africa hospital wards are jammed with patients infected with the omicron coronavirus variant as President Cyril Ramaphosa urged South Africans on Monday to get vaccinated.
In the past week, cases have reached more than 16,000, up dramatically from 2,300 last Monday, according to South Africa's National Institute for Communicable Diseases.
The NICD says the increase in cases in such a short period of time is “unprecedented” in the trajectory of the pandemic, now in its fourth phase in the country.
“Unfortunately, we’re seeing a more than doubling of hospital admissions each day,” said Ian Sanne, an infectious diseases specialist who serves on South Africa’s COVID-19 presidential advisory committee.

Sounds like President Cyril Ramaphosa doesn’t want to “assume room temperature” like his fellow former African leaders...
ALL, repeat, ALL variants are going to look mild if the infected samples are 30 years old.
These widely quoted reports from this South African region have, at the top of the report, the following phrase:
“Unlike the past 18 months, 80% of the patients in our hospital right now are under age 50.”
Well of COURSE they are going to be mild cases. Vaxed or unvaxed. The virus from day 1 has been killing old folks. If you stack your hospital patient samples to be under 50 then hell yes you’re going report no deaths and mild symptoms — and get your country re-opened for travel.
Ok, someone is not telling the truth.
Just 2 days ago, the South African doctor who first isolated Omicron, Angelique Coetzee said all cases she saw were mild and did not require hospitalization.
Now suddenly, we’re seeing hospitals in South Africa slammed with patients. What’s the truth here?
Well, getting in to see my PCP usually took weeks even before COVID, and COVID made that worse. If it’s minor but one wants quick treatment, calling the PCP gets one referred to walk in clinics, and if more than minor, one is told to go to the ER. Kinda hard to blame the patient...

P.S. No, I’m NOT an illegal alien.
Oh, that’s good 😊
The walls are going to fall down and we’ll all be killed.
Thank you for the sign language lesson ❣
I am saving that one!
Can you provide source for that report?
That would be awesome, thanks. :)
JAMMED!! I TELL YOU, JAMMED!
beautiful
Me Neither
Thanks very much!! :D
You’re very welcome ;)
The article mentioned COVID pneumonia in the hospitalized patients.
There is no mention of people who had COVID previously.
Friend just went to Wisconsin for her mother’s funeral, her 2 brothers have Covid.
Another friend went to Illinois for Thanksgiving, both caught Covid.
One had a mild case; his wife got the monoclonal.
Most I have heard in a while that I personally know.
Of course the hospitals are overwhelmed, people have been told they have the equivalent of AIDS, and they have a chance to be saved....just give your soul to Global government. What is up with the new word “governance”. It is one that is used as if it is interchangeable with government. It is not, it means something and I am sure it is not good.
