Well, the important thing is to make sure that the general population is placid and confused and easily controlled.

This sounds fair. The police there aren’t doing their jobs, so, there’s no need for taxes to pay for them.

I always thought the end game of legalization was just to get the law off the backs of people that smoked weed. The taxation schemes were just the window dressing necessary to sell the idea to the fence-sifters.

Just like the oil cartel, drug cartels can run prices down so low to put CBD out of business. They have billions in other drugs and can weather out that storm. Cutting taxes will do nothing to stop them.

“Sadly, the illegal market is flourishing by undercutting the prices of legal businesses, which is bad for our economy as illegal businesses pay no taxes while subjecting workers to dangerous conditions and consumers to dangerous products. Now is not the time to impose a new tax on small businesses that are just getting established and trying to compete with illicit operators.”

Hm…but they are still a sanctuary city for illegals doing the same thing. Cognitive dissonance to the infinite power.

. . . uh . . . wouldn’t the better solution be to jack up taxes on illegal drug dealers instead? </s>

The cost of gram of pot in Canada was $10 since the 1980s... When the Government legalized it to make millions from taxes... They sold pot for about $10 a gram, plus taxes of 15%... The illegal pot dealers dropped their prices to $5 gram and less... You can now buy an illegal pound for about $400... That’s less than a dollar a gram... And the illegal dealers are still making money. It doesn’t cost much to grow pot... But the government invested in the legal pot industry... Giving them tens of millions of dollars, and selling their ‘legal’ pot at their legal stores... But it’s gone up in smoke, so to speak. The legal pot companies are bleeding money and going bankrupt and the government sanctioned stores are losing money and costing more and more tax dollars... They aren’t making any money.

The illegal pot trade is bigger than ever now... Volume, volume, volume. The more you sell, the cheaper it is to make and the more you make selling it.

Ha!

Remember all the argument that it would put dealers out of business and collect scads of tax revenue.

Probably have to lower their prices, too.

Maybe switch to vending machines. USDA approved of course.

Excellent! Exactly! Legal drug stupor creates a compliant citizenry primed to accept growing authoritarianism.

The best article that I read show how the newly-legalized pot dealers had to deal with California’s business regulations, which was killing them. It was hysterical, since virtually all of those dealers had spent their lives voting for and financing the party that was now driving them broke.
