I have been buying local with success. Local potters, a local candy maker, local handknits, restaurants gift certificates, local winery, local brewery growlers, local jeweler, there is a regional weavers local winery, and local coffee roasters.

We actually have local knifemakers, and of course local artists.

It takes a bit and is harder than Amazon but it is worth it.

Texas and Florida ports are not reporting a problem and they are getting huge increases in the shipping that was re routed.

This is caused by the ComDem Dictators in control. Intentional chaos.

California outlawed independent contractors that included all the owner operators that are container drayers.

A fantastic way to become self employed in a very good business is to buy a tractor and then as an independent contractor, hire out to a container drayage company and haul containers from port to destination.

Ironically, many of these independent contractors are black. They are black businesses that the state snuffed out. They are out of work with a huge mortgage on their truck and no income to make the payments.

Marxism is real, alive4, and well in California.

California is a plague on America

While all you’ve typed here is true; it doesn’t change the fact that we’ve got way more STUFF than we NEED.

(Clutch might agree #49)

What’s also worsening are wait times. It now takes 21 days, or three weeks, for a vessel to enter the twin ports, that’s up from seven in August.

Versus an extra two weeks or so to reroute a ship to an east coast port via the Panama Canal. . . .

Maybe we need to be like 1989 Romania.

Wouldn't that be a great way to celebrate Christmas Day?

This is like crapping in a toilet that has already been plugged. California rightfully is the plugged up toilet full of shit. Toilet needs a good plunger job by Joe the plumber.

There’s truth to both sides of this and...the opportunty is to sell all the used stuff you no longer need.

With the Mercantile (XMAS) season and Barry’s downhome favorite “TurkeyDay” around the corner, perhaps putting a few items out there might just move it along...

PLUS if you act quickly you may even forgo reporting the $600 capital gains!

One time my dishwasher broke and I ordered a new pump assembly waited a week for it to show up installed it and I think the total time between break down and powering it back was around two weeks.

A few weeks later I happen to be in my big box home repair store and I sauntered over to the dishwashers to see how much my dushwasher sells for new.

The dishwasher closet to the model I proudly and successfully repaired cost the same amount of money as the part that I purchased, minus the shipping time and install time.

Now it’s RTF.

See how the communo-fascists assume power over the private sector?

The reason it’s messed up is precisely because of government doing things.

Create the problem, then manipulate it. Never, ever, ever solve the problem.

My step dad worked seasonal so during the winter he drew unemployment. Christmas was always really lean at our house…. besides the food. We always had plenty of food at Thanksgiving and Christmas. These kids now wouldn’t know what to do if they were told……you have $10 so tell us what you want for Christmas. That was every Christmas when I was young.

Chandlers

And I imagine those Chandler services are humping and a bumping and probably providing a lot more than just expendables. Cash cow and all that.

It really depends just how gawdy you want your XMAS to be.

And the age group you’re buying for.

One poster suggested purchasing items from local craftsmen and that would work for a lot of age groups but there is a some groups that it wouldn’t work for.

Let’s all write our congressman and senators and tell them about the California laws that have stripped independent truckers from going into these port areas with their tractors and pulling cargo containers to other destinations.

The private sector independent truckers out there have been totally screwed over by the California government, and ironically a great number of those truckers are minority owned independents, with leases and loans on their trucks and all the peripherals surrounding that businesses (hint: it’s a helluva lot more in depth than a truck and cb radio).

Maybe we’ll go back to Monkey sock dolls soon.

I think this is kind of adventurous for modern-day XMAS in America.

I think a true test of our resolve would be how we get through XMAS without raising a fuss like a 2 year old at Walmart who really doesn’t want to be there.
