New COVID-19 cases in South Africa have tripled in three days, according to new figures released by the country's health ministry on Thursday, sparking concerns over the spread of the new omicron variant.
South Africa is entering its fourth wave of COVID-19 infections due to the omicron variant, Phaahla added at a media briefing on Friday.
He said that the infections with the new variant have been detected in seven out of the country's nine provinces. Since omicron was first detected in the country eight days ago, cases have risen steadily, he said on Friday.

Well we need to stop the spread at all costs. Especially when costs include huge purchases to our buddies in big pharma. Just because the symptoms are mild is no reason to start using common sense when its more fun to ruin economies and increase human suffering.
I looked carefully in the article for words like
hospitalizations, severe, ICU, ventilator
Didn’t see any of those words anywhere in the article.

Do cases = Deaths? Only if reported in NYC.
It appears that this “virus” is spreading at near the speed of light. Across SA provinces, to a dozen countries around the world - Japan, etc. ANd, NY and CA.
The logical explanation for this is that it must be transmittable via phone lines, emails, internet, satellites and ZOOM calls.
More “cases surging” fearmongering
No mention of hospitalizations or deaths surging, so they gotta hype “cases” again

every day further hyping the number of “flu infections”, and calling it a health emergency? NOPE, somehow we were able to survive all those flu “cases”, but with Covid, it’s totally different!

This “official” and “deadly” pandemic seems remarkably under-performing compared to the media hype in South Africa.

When it was Delta at the same stage, 300 admissions in Gauteng a day. With Omicron the number is +/-30. Order of magnitude less severe by all appearances. Gauteng is the epicenter and leading indicator.
