WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate passed a stopgap spending bill Thursday that avoids a short-term shutdown and funds the federal government through Feb. 18 after leaders defused a partisan standoff over federal vaccine mandates. The measure now goes to President Joe Biden to be signed into law.
“I am glad that in the end, cooler heads prevailed. The government will stay open and I thank the members of this chamber for walking us back from the brink of an avoidable, needless and costly shutdown,” said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.
The Senate approved the measure by a vote of 69-28.

Now let’s take stock: six weeks ago McConnell said the Republicans would not vote for this measure and that the rats were completely able to do it on their own using their last 2021 shot at reconciliation. Today the Republicans did exactly the opposite. And we got… what for it? I’ll bet you we got absolutely nothing and just unnecessarily caved again for no reason. I mean, the rats didn’t even have to have their media arm apply any pressure at all. It’s nothing short of astounding just how vacant and craven the Republican leadership is

When it came time to question Comey, after it became known Mueller was a Hoax, Lee said I looked up to you, I have a picture of you in my office, and I’m a little disappointed in you. He wasted his time and sounded like a buffoon. He left it like Comey was well intentioned.

Kind of an interesting thing happened recently, I donated to Rubio when he first ran, thinking he would be a good conservative. He got to Washington and hitched his wagon to the gang of eight on amnesty, and I’ve never given him another dime. About twice a year I will get campaign emails from him asking for donations. The last one, when I unsubscribed, I got an email asking why I unsubscribed. I told them that I wouldn’t financially support a rino, I’d rather throw my money in the street and watch it blow away, and if he really needs funding he should go to his constituents, illegal aliens. It probably didn’t accomplish much, but I felt good.
After the dems boxed the repubs in with the staged insurrection, my thought has been the only way we are going to change course will be when the centrist dems push back on the loons. Any pushback from our side will bring calls of white supremacy, and the repubs don’t have the spine to fight through that.
