Illinois on Wednesday reported 6,119 new COVID-19 cases, the highest amount in a single day since January.
The surge is largely fueled by unvaccinated residents, the Chicago Tribune reported. In the week ending on Wednesday, residents who were not fully vaccinated were being hospitalized due to COVID-19 at a rate of 38 per 100,000 residents, surpassing the peak rate during fall 2020, according to the Tribune.
Nearly 1.9 million people in Illinois have received the COVID-19 booster shot, which is more than one in seven of the state's residents, the Tribune noted. The number is an increase from the 1.5 million Illinoisans who were reported to have received the booster less than two weeks ago.
The state ranks 17th in the country for the percentage of residents who have received booster shots, the news outlet reported.

I have family in Illinois..they tested positive, they were vaccinated.. so...
And yet, there is Florida standing out like a sore thumb MSM refuses to acknowledge.
DeSantis, and his administration, are geniuses.
Please note: You people in Illinois will not get any natural Vitamin D until Spring because of low light conditions. In fact, no one above the 37th parallel will make Vitamin D until then.
Since Covid19 kills people who have low Vitamin D levels - take D supplement and be healthy!
What's the rate for the fully vaccinated?
re: “The surge is largely fueled by unvaccinated residents”
The CDC does not count as vaccinated anyone less than two weeks past his last injection, nor anyone not fully vaxxed according to the standard of the moment, be it three, four, or five pokes.
So, as the Pandemic of the Vaccinated grows exponentially, be prepared for the blame being shunted off to the unvaxxed with increasing stridency. The CDC’s definition of who’s vaccinated and who’s not is laying the groundwork for blame-shifting.
re: “What’s the rate for the fully vaccinated? “
Moving target; as the number of prescribed ‘jabs’ goes up SO DOES the ‘window’ of who fits the definition of vaxxed ...
the way to cure the covid virus is to elect republican governments in all democratic run cess pool states
The definition of “fully vaccinated” has been changed to include booster shots. Unreal.
As of November 30th, 69 percent in Illinois had one shot and 62 percent had two shots.
For what it's worth, the CDC itself is currently reporting somewhat different numbers for the state of Illinois.
For those age 12 and above, the percentage of the population that has received "one shot" is given as 79.2% For those age 65 and above, the figure is 94.6%.
As for those "fully vaccinated" -- which, given how the CDC currently breaks out its data, means two shots for those that have taken the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine and one shot for those who have taken the J&J vaccinate -- the percentage of the state's population age 12 or older said to fully vaxxed is 72%. For those age 65 and older, the figure is 86.6%
The CDC also purports to be keeping tabs on the rate of those getting booster shots in Illinois. For those age 50 and older, the percentage reported is 38.3%. For those age 65 and older, the figure given is 52.6%.
Deaths involving COVID in the state of Illinois had been trending down in 2021, compared to the same time in (pre-vax) 2020, through July 2021 (i.e., down 48% in July 2021, compared to July 2020). Starting in August 2021, however, things started to go the other way.
COVID deaths in Illinois increased in August 2021, compared to (pre-vax) August 2020, by some 49%. The trend continued in September. There was a 105% increase in COVID deaths in Illinois in September 2021, compared to (pre-vax) September 2020.
To date, 861 COVID deaths have been recorded in Illinois for the months of October 2021. In October 2020, there were 1084 such deaths (i.e., a decrease of some 20% for (post-vax) October 2021). Whether that October 2021 figure will increase in the coming weeks -- these deaths figures are reported to the National Center for Health Statistics by each individual state health department, and are derived from official death certificate information, and so take a number of weeks to be fully compiled -- remains to be seen. For this reason, too, complete figures for November 2021 are many weeks away.
“ In the week ending on Wednesday, residents who were not fully vaccinated were being hospitalized due to COVID-19 at a rate of 38 per 100,000 residents”
“ What’s the rate for the fully vaccinated?”
From the Chicago Tribune article, that The Hill’s story references: “ For those fully vaccinated, the weekly admittance rate has hovered between 1 and 4 people per 100,000 residents during both surges since this summer.”
Sounds like Delta is flaring through the remaining fuel, and the percentage of the population with immunity keeps growing.
‘Due to unvaxxed residents’…BS BS BS…with 70-80% ‘vaccinated’ any effective vaccine would have contained the virus…imbeciles…
I am a little confused here. Must be my incompetence with new math but the article says the 6000+ cases are driven by the unvaxxed but 61.7% of the 12,770,000 folks in the state are fully vaxxed. That leaves 0.383 * 12,770,000 = 4,890,910 unvaxxed people. If they have a positivity rate of 38 per 100,000 that is (4,890,910/100,000)* 38 = 1,859 which the last I checked was a whole lot smaller than 6,000+. In fact it looks like it is less than a third of the new cases are among the unvaxxed. Don’t tell me The Hill took some press release from the CDC at face value and just assumed it was correct. That would never happen. Where did I go wrong :-)
What is the rate for the fully vaccinated? Well lets see 38.3% of the states population (12,770,000) is unvaxxed and 38/100K * were infected.
((0.383 * 12,770,000)/100,000)*38 = 1,859 unvaxxed covid victims out of a total of 6,119 total victims so 6119-1859=4,257 fully vaxxed victims.
((0.617 * 12,770,000)/100,000)*X=4,257 solve for X=54 per 100K
Here is the thing though. The article if you read carefully does not say the vaxxed had a higher rate of infection than the unvaxxed. No they said the unvaxxed had a higher rate of infection then they did last January. It was written to deliberately and cunningly mislead the reader.
Why is it not unreasonable to believe the unvaxxed could have a lower infection rate? Well for starters by age they skew younger. Most of the unvaxxed are probably under 30 and a large number are under 18 including children under 5. These groups are less prone to get covid or pass it on or even know when they do have it because the symptons are so mild. Next the vax resisters are also more likely to be covid survivors who see no need to get a problemativ vaccine. The unvaxxed therefore are more likely to have natural immunity. A Third reason is because the efficacy of the vaccine seems to collapse almost entirely after 6 months. In fact it may become antagonistic and actually make people more not less susceptible to infection.
When you see or hear anything from the CDC just assume they are lying in order to make money for their masters in big pharma. More often than not you will be correct.
