Buttigieg: Families who buy electric vehicles 'never have to worry about gas prices again'
The Hill ^ | November 29, 2021 | Maureen Breslin

Posted on 11/29/2021 9:49:01 AM PST by karpov

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg stressed in a new interview that families who buy electric vehicles (EVs) "never have to worry about gas prices again."

While speaking on MSNBC's "The Sunday Show With Jonathan Capehart," Buttigieg noted that Democrats' proposed social spending package includes incentives to make it more affordable to buy an electric vehicle.

Buttigieg said that families would essentially have a "$12,500 discount" in transportation costs, adding that "families who own that vehicle will never have to worry about gas prices again."

"The people who stand to benefit most from owning an EV are often rural residents who have the most distances to drive, who burn the most gas, and underserved urban residents in areas where there are higher gas prices and lower income," Buttigieg said.

"They would gain the most by having that vehicle. These are the very residents who have not always been connected to electric vehicles that are viewed as kind of a luxury item," he added.

"If we can make the electric vehicle less expensive for everybody, more people can take advantage, and we'll be selling more American-made EVs, which means in time they'll become less expensive to make and to buy for everybody," Buttigieg said.

Buttigieg's comments come after the Department of Energy announced last week that it would release 50 million barrels of oil from the nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserve in an effort to control rising gas prices.

I guess he plans on replacing all the diesel powered mining equipment with machines with solar panels on the tops of them. And get that fleet of solar powered container ships to bring the batteries from China to the anchorage off the coast of California so they can sit there for a few months. Not to mention the solar powered container cranes and solar powered 18 wheeler rigs to move the batteries around the country.

And then there is all the solar powered electric generation plants that will shut down their coal and natural gas boilers.

How can anybody be that stupid?

They are indoctrinated in stupid K-12, higher ed, they watch and read the stupid through MSM and big tech, and they inhabit a bubble of stupid.

They are stuck in the same dogma that led the educated elites to once believe the world was flat and dismiss any person who questioned it.

The folks in CA couldn’t escape their homes in the wildfires because the elec was off and the car batteries were dead. They had to be rescued by gas engine emergency vehicles. Morons.

From the article):" Buttigieg noted that Democrats' proposed social spending package includes incentives to make it more affordable to buy an electric vehicle. "

And vehicles will be powered by blue unicorn farts and wind power.
How did that work out for Texas last winter ?
There has been no new nuclear power plants (clean energy) built in the last 30 years.
Buttigieg has been reading too many fantasy books lately
to know the difference between wishful thinking, fantasy, and reality.

How can anybody be that stupid?

I think that if one suffers confusion over something as basic as whether their bunghole is an exit or entrance then they are probably stupid about a lot of other things things.

That is because you do not want to have to replace the battery
pack.

The cost to replace the battery packs on an EV cost between $5000-15000 PLUS LABOR.

So, after about 6-8 years you do not want to own an EV.
Compare this to some of the 1960’s 240 series Volvo’s with over 1 million miles still being driven today.

I believe about 70% of each barrel of oil (figuratively) is used for some form of transportation.

Products such as plastics, fertilizers, foams, etc account for approximately 30%.

If my numbers from recollection are off here please correct me.

Very little oil is used to produce electricity. Natural gas is used to make lots of clean electricity.
