Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) brushed off speculation that former President Trump could become the next Speaker of the House if Republicans take back control of the lower chamber next year.
"I just don't think that'll ultimately happen," Christie told Julie Mason on Sirius XM's "Julie Mason Mornings" when asked about speculation Trump would come back to Washington to be Speaker, an idea floated recently by Trump's former chief of staff Mark Meadows.
"I think that's one of the things that the media likes to write about," Christie continued. "It's like a brokered convention. Every four years the media loves to write about a brokered convention, and it never happens."

There has been talk about appointing Trump as the next Speaker of the House if/when Republicans take it back in 2022. The Speaker does not necessarily have to be an elected House member, he can be anyone appointed.
There is nothing requiring the Speaker to even be a member of Congress. As I understand it, he could be anyone they choose.
Trump already said a long time ago he was not interested in being speaker.

Trump was never going to be speaker. Only a sorry POS RINO will hold that position. McCarthy is McConnell of the House and will do absolutely nothing just like Boner and Ryan did nothing but surrender.
My congressman is trying to be the Robert Byrd of Kentucky and is a big time tax, borrow and spender and will not opposed the Democrats as long as he is thrown a bone here and there.
He lives to annoy me. At the sight of his name I'm reminded of how much purging the Republican party needs.
The proposal would be for Trump to be elected Speaker. Then, given appropriately large Republican majorities in the House and Senate, for Biden and Harris to be impeached and removed from office. That would make Trump next in line for the presidency, through the "back door." Officially, he could then run again in 2024, and likely win. You can only serve two FULL terms. Trump would be under this maximum constitutional requirement.

I think it’s amazing that some lunatic can come of with some completely hare-brained idea, like having someone who isn’t a member of the House become Speaker. And then this crackpot idea just seems to live on and on.
