Malikah Shabazz, the daughter of civil rights leader Malcolm X, was found dead in her Brooklyn, New York apartment on Monday, reports ABC News. She was 56.
Police confirmed with the news outlet that Shabazz’s body was found inside her residence just before 5 p.m. ET. Her death is not considered to be suspicious and a cause of death has not yet been determined, according to the reports.
Malikah Shabazz and her twin sister, Malaak, were born just months after their famed father was assassinated in 1965. Malcolm and his wife, Betty Shabazz, had four other daughters.
The news of Shabazz’s death comes just a few days after two men who were charged and served prison time for Malcolm X’s murder were exonerated.
The development followed a 22-month investigation into the case that was conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office and the Innocence Project, which represented the two men, Muhammad A. Aziz and Khalil Islam. Investigators found that prosecutors, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the New York Police Department withheld key evidence that would have led to the men’s acquittal, per The New York Times.

Was she famous / infamous for anything in her own right?
That entire family seems cursed. The members have been plagued with early, often violent, often mysterious deaths for many years.
Betty Shabazz (Malcolm X’s daughter) died aged 60 when her teen son Malcolm set the house on fire. She died weeks later 1997.
Then in 2013 at age 28, Malcolm died due to injuries sustained in a fight over a bar bill in Mexico City.
There are other untimely deaths besides these two.

Our Law Enforcement has got to SHOW US THAT THEY ARE WORTHY OF RESPECT AND APPROVAL.
I don’t remember too much about all this, I was busy trying to make a living and being a mother, but it shocking to realize that the FBI hasn’t changed.
Not being familiar with the principals that much, I still feel an uneasiness about someone 56 years old to die so young.

Is there ever a time, when the FBI tells the truth? I tend not to believe a word they say.
She looks more than a bit weathered there. Raw and rough.
When did she have the vax?
Suicide maybe.
It’s rather young for a woman to die at that age without a cause.
