Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is leading former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) by 6 points in the Lone Star State’s gubernatorial race, according to a new poll, days after O’Rourke officially launched his bid for office in his home state.
The poll, conducted by the Dallas Morning News and the University of Texas at Tyler, found that in a head-to-head matchup between the two candidates, 45 percent of registered voters said they support Abbott, while 39 percent said they are backing O’Rourke.
Sixteen percent of respondents said they would vote for a different candidate for governor.

It probably is. Polls are used to generate momentum for Liberals.
The fact that they are recycling a loser like O’Rourke tells me that real challengers are skipping this cycle. They also like that he can self-fund and raise money out of state.
And Abbott is not very popular. There are a couple of challengers who have more conservative credentials who are primary-ing him.
And I don’t believe polls either. No anti gun will ever win texas.
Why do the Dems keep running this fake-hispanic Beto? Not that I mind him getting shellacked again and again; it’s just weird. It’s like he’s there only candidate.
Hopefully Beta will continue to run for “something” every two years. This guy incinerates liberal campaign cash like nobody else.
Normally, this far out,the propagandist say it is tied.

This is a great poll for a year out. Robert has already competed state-wide. Should finish with Abbott reelected by 8 points.
Fake poll to get interest from donors
You have to learn the strategy. A few polls showing 7 then a few tightening polls before he draws even and then takes a slight lead. That “movement” helps to generate momentum and the perception that as he reveals his platform his constituents are becoming more and more comfortable with him. These polls are campaign strategies and not meant to be a reflection on the state of a given race.

Huffines is a great challenger to Abbott.
