WALNUT CREEK (CBS SF) — Dozens of looters swarmed into the Nordstrom store in downtown Walnut Creek Saturday night, terrorizing shoppers, ripping off bag loads of merchandise and ransacking shelves before fleeing in a several vehicles waiting for them on the street.
Walnut Creek Lt. Ryan Hibbs told KPIX 5 that police began receiving calls about the looting at around 9 p.m. He said there were approximately 80 individuals who ran into the store and began looting and smashing shelves.
Video shot at the scene shows the masked looters streaming out of the store, carrying bags and boxes, jumping into the cars.
Dozens of police vehicles also responded to the scene.
Hibbs said officers stopped one vehicle and arrested both suspects — a male and a female — inside. The male was charged with robbery, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of burglary tools. The female was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm.
Stolen property from the looting and a firearm was recovered from their vehicle.
A third suspect was caught on foot and arrested. He was also charged with robbery, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of burglary tools.
Brett Barrett is one of the managers of P.F. Chang’s restaurant across from the Nordstrom store. He watched as the bedlam unfolded.
“I probably saw 50-80 people in like ski masks with crowbars, a bunch of weapons,” he said. “They were looting the Nordstrom.”
“There was a mob of people,” he continued. “The police were flying in. It was like a scene out of a movie. It was insane.”
Barrett also worried about the safety of the diners in his restaurant. Many crowded around the windows to watch the looters flee.
“I had to start locking the back door. You never know, they could come right in here. It was crazy…All the guests inside were getting concerned. It was a scary scene for a moment.”
Feel good story. The worse it gets the sooner it all implodes
I have no clue where this is, and I refuse to do more than read headlines. So now what?
Just a pre Black Friday promo grab to avoid crowds.
The fall of northern counties in California prefigured the fall of states we see now. Remember Ford, Reagan X2, and GHW Bush all carried California.
When I was a student in Santa Clara County in the 80s, San Francisco, Alameda, Marin, Santa Cruz we’re always loopy. However, Santa Clara, Contra Costa where this store is, San Mateo,
Solano, would still frequently send Republicans to office. Eventually all the Bay Area counties fell. Then the cancer spread inland to Sacramento, San Joaquin, and they fell. Now farther East we’re under siege here in Placer. GOP still commands a pluraity in party registration, but has dropped 11 points.
This is a simplified model as there are a lot more counties involved, and I don’t know that the tide can ever be rolled back. If anything can make a dent in the blue wall, perhaps smug suburban libs having their stores in the clean and comfortable malls looted might help
And don’t forget a lot of the third World country invaders are in this country now and once they get a sniff of what the BLM rioters are getting away with they too will join the party. Once the supplies of freebies is exhausted and no longer receive the goodies they too will join in the parade.. In Haiti you would see a lot of this. But don’t forget folks I just read an article that says that the cartels are beginning to make huge roots in California. These people are ruthless , Vicious and heartless they are Satan‘s and the progressives walking boots! The caravans that are and have invaded our nation has a lot of bad people in the mix. And it’s not only 100 or 200 you’re talking about in the thousands. We have lost control folks ...our nation has gone over the Clift all that needs to happen now is for the splat to be heard.
Release the Kyles!
Christmas looting. Uh, shopping. Yeah, that’s it.
You pinned it exactly right.
Definitely time for a national divorce, imho. Will Texas accept refugees from Massachusetts? I can swap homes with someone from Austin.
Walnut Creek is 2% black—the other shoppers must have thought a foreign army had invaded!
;-)
I live nearby as well—after the riots there in summer 2020, we no longer shop or dine there. The city can’t doesn’t care about lawlessness and doesn’t protect the business owners.
When I moved here 12 years ago, it was 50-50 Dem/Rep. Now it is 75-25, and it shows.
“Looter” is an offensive term. They should be called “people of color.”

Indeed. I have no sympathy for SF or any of their problems.
“Pre Black Friday”
Heheheheh
At first I thought... “There is no downtown Walnit Creek!”
Then I remembered, “Wait, this is Florida....can’t be OUR Walnut Creek...”
Black Fridays Matter.
I’m all ears, BUT I assumed the warning sign was Sessions recusing himself, and Barr not doing a DAMN thing to protect the Portland federal courthouse. I was convinced then that a sufficient # of GOP’s were ILLEGALLY unmasked and blackmailed into submission.
One of the keys is ferreting out who was blackmailed and getting them out of office.
Another BIG problem is the left owning the NSA & DOJ, so any offensive action will be nearly impossible to coordinate without alerting fedgov. How would you communicate?
We cannot win playing defense.
Happened in Scottsdale, AZ, too. Clearly some kind of nationwide stand down order went out to police agencies - from whom and by what authority we still don’t know. It appears it has never been rescinded. Liberal chiefs want to stay on the good side of the Great Reset’s proponents.
The enquiring ‘real journalist’ among us out there in that hellhole might look at how Facebook or Twitter facilitated the coordination of the ‘event.’
Who am I kidding? There are no ‘real journalists’ or investigative reporters anymore..
