MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said the organization would "continue to fight for better" in the aftermath of a jury's verdict Friday that Kyle Rittenhouse, who fatally shot two men and wounded another during protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last year, was acquitted of all charges.
The Bucks performed a wildcat strike during the NBA's playoff bubble in Orlando, days after a white police officer shot Jacob Blake, a Black man, in August 2020 and one day after Rittenhouse shot three people in the protests over police violence that followed.
Budenholzer anticipated having a conversation with the team ahead of Friday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
"Still trying to push for better in our country," Budenholzer said prior to the game. "Hoping for improvement. Organizationally, just continue to fight for social justice, for better. But at the same time, have to abide by the jury and the decision and the verdict and continue to fight for better."
Rittenhouse had been charged with homicide, attempted homicide and reckless endangering after killing Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and wounding Gaige Grosskreutz, now 28, with an AR-style semi-automatic rifle during a tumultuous night of protests.
Rittenhouse -- who is white, as were those he shot -- pleaded self-defense. He could have gotten life in prison if found guilty on the most serious charge, first-degree intentional homicide, or what some other states call first-degree murder.
The anonymous jury, which appeared to be overwhelmingly white, deliberated for close to 3½ days. The exact racial makeup of the jury wasn't clear because jurors were not asked about their race in court.

Bloomberg Law has a description that’s more accurate:
“the teenager acquitted on all charges for having killed two people at a tumultuous Black Lives Matter protest”
What difference does it make? Seriously. This case was not about race in any way, shape, or form.
Trying to ward off protests at their home games.
Absurd on so many levels.
Yes, and it's sort of amusing watching the MSM twist and wriggle to inject race into an otherwise perfectly straightforward case. Apparently that's the party line of the moment. Kyle is a white supremacist because...uh...reasons. What it amounts to is they're actually disappointed because he didn't shoot any minorities, which is just how crazy this thing has gotten.
How are the Bucks doing for diversity, equity and inclusion?

The left views ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING through a racial prism.
Agenda driven or mental illness, take your choice.
“Fight for better”
Don’t bring a skateboard to a gunfight.
This just shows how ignorant sports celebrities are. Facts be damned if they can look virtuous.
Fight to convict the innocent?
Bankrupt the communist loving NBA.
ESPN and that NBA thing are a joke. Screw em!
Coach Budenholzer. He appears to be very appropriately named.
Would a wrongful conviction had been better?
..... Time to ... Put Up or SHUT UP Woketards!!!!
My urologist has said that to me many times!
The Nba is fighting for better treatment for child rapists, batterers and career violent criminals! We’re sure our fans are on board on this! We asked Xi and he hasn’t got back to us.
I used to watch ESPN quite a lot but gave it up when they decided that racial/sexual arguments were more important than showing sports. The same thing happens way too often with sports shows and publications.
I don’t understand why owners/publishers allow their success to be dashed on the rocks by a vainglorious ego driven jerk with a big mouth and a chip on his shoulder.
