One of the foremost constitutional theorists of the founding generation, John Adams, observed, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”1 He wasn’t the only Founding Father to hold this view. Indeed, James Madison wrote that our Constitution requires “sufficient virtue among men for self-government,” otherwise, “nothing less than the chains of despotism can restrain them from destroying and devouring one another.”2
Many of our Founders were men of faith or were influenced strongly by the Judeo-Christian tradition.3 They accepted the premise of mankind’s imperfect nature. They had experienced first-hand the oppressive dictates of Parliament and the Crown that led to the American Revolution. And they were rightly suspicious of the accumulation of governmental power by one person or a small body — “the very definition of tyranny” according to Madison.4
Consistent with these experiences and beliefs, the Founders imbued liberty-preserving principles into the very structure of the new government. They divided power between federal and state governments, apportioned federal power among three branches of government, and limited the power of the federal government to certain delegated functions. But the Founders also knew that these devices alone were inadequate to preserve and sustain our new nation.
Instructors of Virtue
Why did they believe that the success of the union ultimately depended on the virtue of the people? Simply put, the Founders knew that government was downstream from culture. A virtuous people would courageously defend the rights endowed by their Creator and restored by the blood of patriots. But a fearful people would readily cede these rights in exchange for a fleeting sense of security. As Princeton’s Robbie George explains, “[P]eople lacking in virtue could be counted on to trade

So what to do? Is there time left to attempt to replace them using a clearly broken election system? Or shall we just have another " great American reset" like we have done in the American Revolution and the War Between the States?
We certainly don't know how things are going to work out, but I think we can all agree on what the Commucrats plan for America is and what their "final solution" for us Patriots and our families will look like.
Though I hope and pray for one last American "great reawakening," aka revival, I'm not optimistic. On a local scale, I am very optimistic that God will save those that seek and find Him.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
I trust in God's mercy, by the shed blood of His Son, Jesus, the Christ. I guess that makes me a long term optimist, but a short term pessimist when it comes to where America is headed.
That ship sailed on usurpation Day.
Not ONE of our elected or appointed would stand for the Constitution.
Forfeit part, lose all.
chains of despotism it is.
It is proper for us to keep our minds and our eyes on our Creator and Savior.
The Book of Revelation prophesizes some terrible events. We aren’t there yet, but it’s coming.
Who is John Galt?
True.
America is gone.
God is dead - and the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche lives.
Morals are gone - and modern relative, situationaly dependend, inconsistant, non-doctrinally based ethics set the norms.
The Constitution is irrelevent - Not one of the first ten Amendments (Bill of Rights) still stands. All of them have been abrdiged and todays government buerocracy decides what your rights are. If you mention constitutional rights, people will either laugh, think you to be a “radical far right extremist,” or in the case of most government buerocrats not even know what you are talking about. What percent of DOJ employees do you think can in general terms tell you what the 10 first Amendments say? These are the folks sworn to protect the Constitution, think about that one! Hahaha
America today is a slight shade lighter version of the Euro style social democracy, secular, globalist (supra- national), a technocracy where you have a ruling class (corporate-government collusion) and where not even the democratic process works anymore. This nation only serves one god: money.
Yep! And I don't plan on being here when it happens. Not sure how bad things will get before "me and mine" evacuate the planet by either natural or supernatural means, but I can only try and warn people of what is written about the "latter days" and how to be saved from it.
Don't get left behind!
The Constitution is a brilliant document, reflecting thinking far beyond the time in which it was written. However, its one weakness was assuming Americans would always be a moral and religious people. Who could have possibly imagined rate of moral and physical degeneration of Americans? Children are being raised by the libtard media, not parents. Parents can’t be bothered with teaching their offspring right from wrong and discerning what is really of value. They fob off their children’s need for guidance by buying them TVs and other electronic media whose content is controlled by satanic libtards. Combined with the libtard indoctrination they receive in their public schools and the never-ending drumbeat of libtard indoctrination in the media, the children of America have been transformed into programmed androids who cannot get through the stresses of a single day without drugging themselves, going a single 5 minute span without some sort of electronic entertainment, or broadcasting how they feel about every mundane act. The latter of course serves to train them to be all about themselves, selves, selves. They are unable to discern, to reason, to analyze—perfect fodder for Dimmocommies who seek to simply use them as cattle-like ATM machines to finance their libtard wet dreams. Those Americans with wisdom and sense are being purposely killed off with COVID and other planned epidemics and replaced with illiterate low IQ breeders let into this country by its haters. I really fear for this country’s continue existence as America.
The Constitution is not all that brilliant. It either allowed or authorized where we are today. The left would say that it authorizes. Our side has to concede that it allowed it.
We need to trace the collapse back to its source. American men used to be independent. The Constitution was written for a nation of free farmers who owned their land.
That collapsed over the 20th century. Now we all have salaries and mortgages. With that we have lost the freedom and thus the godliness of the country’s founding.
ping
the founding of the united states was done by religous folks, yes.
the united states today still has religous folks, no?
are not buddhists, taoists, confucianists, hindi, bahai, ‘religous folks’?
or, is the author thinking its “Christianity vs them:?
in which case, “1st amendment for me and not for thee “?
i would think the posthumously decorated sgt. patrick stewart would have something to say about that!!
I think it has something to do with the “Judeo Christian” thing.
You listed: “are not buddhists, taoists, confucianists, hindi, bahai, ‘religous folks’?”
Why didn’t you include Islamists, or even Satanists? Aren’t they sincere in their “religious beliefs?” Aren’t all religions, like all cultures equal?
Not even your own information (medical records), not the games, music, OS on your computer, not your car (loan), not your home (mortgage), not your retirement (Social Security), not your health insurance (run by politicians/bureaucrats and insurance companies). What percent of people do you think even own the phone they use? Heck, you do not even have ownership/control over your own body (mandatory vaccines)!
We want a nation of debtors, that never own anything and work all their life paying interest, fees, and being told what to do because the bank, employer, HOA, government that gives them a hand out owns them.
Modern day slaves.
What to do?? He tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:14. I pray every day that there be 10 righteous men.
And what shall the 10 righeous men to do if we could find them? Or for that matter, what about the rest of us after we have prayed up? Are we not to stand up?
And what of those of us who have taken the oath before God to defend the Constitution from ALL enemies, foreign and domestic?
1. mohammedanism is a theovracy, therefore, it does not fit under ‘religious’, because it is a self-contained politicsl system.
2. i could include satanists, because they themselves label themselves the answer to catholicism, a weird yin/yang setup.
3. i might also include ‘paganism’, which is now a wider umbrella than baskin robbins has flavors.
so now i think i fixed the answer more muddy to you, yes?
(for the keck of it, look up posthumous decorated Sgt. Patrick Stewart, how he affected V.A. history)
