Looks Like Joe Biden Just Lost The New York Times
Issues and Insights ^ | Nov. 17, 2021 | Editorial Board

We fully expected the Times to make excuses for Biden. And at first, it looks as though that is what Irwin is going to do, writing that “presidents have less control over the economy than headlines might suggest.” But then he adds that “the current situation is an exception to the rule.”

And even more remarkable is what comes next. Irwin writes:

"You can draw a direct line from a specific policy decision that Biden and congressional Democrats made this past winter to some of the inflation happening now.

"In designing the stimulus that Congress passed in March, Biden’s administration went big, with $1.9 trillion in pandemic relief — on top of a separate $900 billion package that passed three months earlier. Put the two together, and $2.8 trillion in federal money has been coursing through the economy this year while economic activity has trended only a few hundred billion dollars a year short of what mainstream analysts would consider full health."

The fact that the Times, along with others in the mainstream media, admits that inflation is a problem is in itself a noteworthy development, since for months it insisted that it was just a data anomaly – one that Republicans were trying to exploit for political gain.

Now, with prices for many common household goods having gone up by double digits over the past few months and no end in sight for the trend, the inflation story is impossible to ignore.

But the fact that any one of these “news” outlets is willing to blame Biden for the inflation spiral is a truly stunning development, given they’d spent months blasting out “fact checks” that aggressively slapped down any such claim.

Fifty years ago? Try 99 years ago...
Wiki --> Walter Duranty (25 May 1884 – 3 October 1957) was an Anglo-American journalist who served as Moscow bureau chief of The New York Times for fourteen years (1922–1936) following the Bolshevik victory in the Russian Civil War (1918–1921). In 1932, Duranty received a Pulitzer Prize for a series of reports about the Soviet Union, eleven of which were published in June 1931. He was later castigated for his subsequent denial of, and thereby exacerbation of, widespread famine (1932–1933) in the USSR, most particularly the famine in Ukraine. Years later, there continue to be calls to revoke his Pulitzer, which to this day has still not happened. In 1990, The New York Times, which had submitted his works for the prize in 1932, wrote that his later articles denying the famine constituted "some of the worst reporting to appear in this newspaper".

Duranty's motivations have been hotly debated and his reporting is faulted for being too uncritical of the USSR, presenting Soviet propaganda as legitimate reporting.

In 1933, Stalin rewarded [Duranty's] praise and appreciation by saying that Duranty tried "to tell the truth about our country".

And...
The National Interest --> Duranty, who was the Times’ Moscow bureau chief, wrote a series of glowing pieces about the USSR’s policies under General Secretary Josef Stalin in 1931.

While millions of people were starving in Ukraine, Duranty reported back that things were going swimmingly under the communist regime despite a few bumps in the road. “Enemies and foreign critics can say what they please,” Duranty wrote. “Weaklings and despondents at home may groan under the burden, but the youth and strength of the Russian people is essentially at one with the Kremlin’s program, believes it worthwhile and supports it, however hard be the sledding.” He attacked reports that portrayed the Soviet policies in a negative light as “malignant propaganda.”

Respectfully, the DEMOniCRATS did not lose the N.Y. Times, IMHO. Joe Biden lost them. Getting the distinct impression the deckchairs are being rearranged on the S.S. Titanic, to stave off an electoral disaster in 2022 and 24. Methinks Biden and Harris are being prepared for departure, their ineptitude has become too obvious, and troublesome. Thank you.

FWIW, I don’t think Feep State gives a rat’s hairy end how things look.

If they did, they would have picked BiteMe and Heels Up to install.

I think their problem now is that they far overestimated BiteMe’s USE BY date and are now scrambling to deal with that.

On the other hand, and since I come from a centuries-long line of optimists, I suppose someone could have made Deep State an offer it can’t refuse, and Deep State is about to make Trump veep, with BiteMe to shuffle off shortly thereafter.

Jack Posobiec said early this week that in the war between Kamala and Jill, Kamala has the NYT as her go-to leak outlet.

Everything old is new again.

And on a Tricky Dicky related note, is anyone else wondering if it was Deep State that got rid of Nixon...

Biden’s problems are the Republican’s fault for losing the Georgia senate runoffs.

That's a valid criticism; children and idiots need constant supervision by responsible adults.

The NYT is hard left, and will push hard left as long as they can get away with it. But it’s also pretty smart, and knows when to tack back a bit to maintain at least a facade of objectivity.

All they are doing is preparing to remain a viable propaganda organ for the post-Biden period. Which looks like it will be very soon.

“Respectfully, the DEMOniCRATS did not lose the N.Y. Times, IMHO. Joe Biden lost them.”

Perhaps a new strategery is being evolved. Dump/focus all the angst onto Biden and Harris and leave our poor legislators alone. It would be consistent with the “if only the right guy was in charge” chant leftists always spew. Just throwing the idea out. It doesn’t seem like it would be all that effective in terms of holding onto blue Cong. seats, but they gotta do something.

Honestly, it’s hard to see how anyone with functioning neurons can fail to link higher gas prices with shutting down Keystone. They don’t have to know that higher fuel > higher ag prices due to fert & planting/harvesting. They don’t have to know that printing zillions of USDs causes (a certain type) of inflation”. Rising prices, there’s nobody who does not see this.

Maybe the strategery is to pile onto Biden so hard, temporarily, and then paint him as a sympathetic figure starting 45 days from now. Kind of “get it all out at one time”.

“I keep wondering why the NY Times is quoted so often, and often quoted as the ‘paper of record’.”

I wonder about that myself.

I think it is because in order to navigate our way through life, we need to know two things:

1) we need to know the truth, regardless of what everyone around us believes, and..

2) we need to know what everyone around us believes, even if it’s wrong.

For example, in order to proceed safely through an intersection we must pay attention to two things:

1) whether we have right of way, and..

2) what other drivers and pedestrians are thinking and doing..

It’s not enough to know the truth - we need to know what other people believe, even if it’s wrong - so that we can try to avoid the consequences of their mistakes.

I think that might be why it still matters what the fake news is reporting.
