Australia has been warned of a heavy attack if it helps the United States defend Taiwan from China. It follows comments by Defence Minister Peter Dutton, that implied Australia would support America. Hu Xijin, the Editor-in-Chief of China’s state-run Global Times newspaper, tweeted the threat.
China is its own worst enemy. It has managed to diplomatically isolate itself better then the US could ever hope to accomplish.
Nixon should have never opened up Communist China, they should have never become trading partners.

We mage a huge mistake enabling China to control us so much. We can blame Nixon all day, but China grew under many different administration. One even gave them ballistic technology, that China now uses against the USA and the Free world. We can’t turn back the hands of time. And the confrontation that is coming cannot be stopped. China will take Taiwan, and any effort to stop that will result in something more devastating than we can imagine.
How long would China servive with its supply of anthracite coal from Australia cut off?

Like they care. They are quickly taking over the world and everyone is watching it like it was a rape on the subway. They have Hong Kong, Taiwan will be next, and from there world dominance.
They are likely to hurt some feelings along the way. Of course, they will give Russia most of Europe.
I agree, but in context, Nixon was trying to do it to manipulate the geopolitical situation (kind of breaking the Chicoms away from the Soviets) rather than opening it up for strictly trade purposes. It certainly wasn’t an economic powerhouse back then...
I would be more specific, and specify we should never have granted them Most Favored Nation status. Talk about facilitating being sold the rope to hang yourself.
The Aussies won’t have to worry. Old Perv Joe will not defend Taiwan. He owes his soul to the CCP.
