War is always more devastating than anyone at the onset can imagine.
China has a huge military with much untested equipment and almost no actual combat or tactical experience. If the people of Taiwan are actually willing to fight and sacrifice for their freedom, it is not a certainty that an invasion of Taiwan would be successful. In fact a loss and high casualties would be a disaster for the ruling communists in China. Xi and his sycophants would be deposed, there very well may be a coup against the ruling communists by the military. It would be a huge gamble for Xi to invade Taiwan. Very much doubt he will order such an invasion.
It appears a group of leaders, friend and foe that know the world is at a tipping point, not global warming, what man has done in the name of God, calling it good, killing all in the way is to be reaped,

That would be the stupidest military move imaginable, other than murdering 400 million people and wiping out 6 major cities, it would have no deleterious effect on the Party leadership, beyond triggering an all out thermonuclear war, which would leave the US a radioactive wasteland with uncountable millions dead in the first 30 minutes.

.....to me, this is laughable. I say this because in about 4 days, in the Kuwait/Iraq theater, the U.S. demonstrated to the world what can be done to “MASSED” troops and equipment.

I believe China sees the Biden administration as the weakest US government ever. And they know that if Joe is gone, Kamala will caused the US to completely collapse, and maybe that is what they are betting on. We set ourselves up with sleepy Joe and Train Wreck Kamala. Russia is also getting in on the game in Eastern Europe and Ukraine. Iran backed rebels took the US embassy in Yemen, and have buzzed our ships in the gulf. The entire world knows Joe is weak. And this is a big problem, after we lost afghanistan so badly and it is now being overrun by Al Qaeda and ISIS who are killing the Taliban leaders. What a frigging mess.

War can be fought many ways outside of armed conflict. Right now, America is tearing itself apart politically. Why should the Chinese strike while that is on-going?
China owns $$$ Trillions in US Debt. A fighting war would see that gone.

Please. If China really had tha kind of muscle, Taiwan would have been owned by them by now. Also nuking the #1 country that buys most of your crap and you holding all its debt is always a good move to econmically destroy your economic engine, and farmland to feed your people. Lots of chicoms lose thier jobs, and go starving even more and then you have a bit of a internal uprising. Kinda hard to fight a civil war and a world war dont you think? If Australia is going to be attacked, you hit the enemy it its most vunerable and painful. Mutual self destruction!

It for internal consumption - they believe it makes people more loyal to the Party or some such notion. The CCP is just like the DNC in that they take non-existent or a real problem and find a solution that makes it worse. So the CCP needs to drag the people out of the Deng/Hong Kong mentality into the New Maoish Xi Thought to increase Party loyalty and obedience.

You do not understand Chinese thought here - you are thinking like a Westerner.
Loss of face is the worst thing that can happen to an individual in mainland China - loss of face for the CCP must be redeemed at any cost, even to the destruction of the US as a trading partner - again its how they think, not how you think as an American.

And BTW China does have “tha kind of muscle”. They are on track to have more nuclear warheads than the US and Russia combined. They are practicing drone swam attacks on carrier and group mock ups, as well as targeting DF-41s and 21s on the mock ups (stationary and moving) - nicely scoring several direct hits.
Also their Type 003 CVN will be launched soon - its only a bit smaller than the Ford class CVN and uses EMALS and steam launch/retrieval systems. It will be escorted by some of the most modern cruisers and destroyers in the world.
Using it is a different matter altogether.
