Here at the retirement home, we had a visit from the Naval Postgraduate School, which is based down the road in Monterey. This was to honor those veterans who live here. The people who came from the school were a young Navy O-6, a cute female Navy O-3, and a stunning female Marine O-3. The Marine was the first in her family to serve in the military. She looked sharp in her uniform.

One of our retirees is a 105 year old man who served in both the Navy and Army during World War II. He was in the Philippines. Another retiree was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. We had a submariner from the Vietnam War among our group. Considering I never heard a shot fired in anger during my two year Army stint, I was humbled to be in the presence of such people.

You remember the story I told in our military humor thread about the military justice class I taught where I was “shot” to open the class with a bang? I told that story and brought the house down. I was thrilled to have that Navy O-6 place a Stars & Stripes pin on my shirt. The same with that cute Marine O-3. They didn’t look like that when I was young!

At least they’re lady bugs and not spiders or worse. We know someone in VA who has commented on this. I guess all the aphids in that part of the world had better be careful. LOL!
