President Joe Biden’s nominee for a key Treasury Department role admitted that oil, natural gas and coal firms need to go bankrupt to prevent climate change, a resurfaced video showed.
“Here what I’m thinking about is primarily the coal and oil and gas industry. A lot of the smaller players in that industry are going to probably go bankrupt in short order, at least we want them to go bankrupt if we want to tackle climate change,” Saule Omarova — who the Senate is considering to lead the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency — remarked in a clip uncovered Tuesday by the American Accountability Foundation (AAF), a conservative research group.
The comments were originally made during a March talk Omarova gave as part of the Jain Family Institute’s “Social Wealth Seminar” series.
Omarova has already been slammed by top GOP senators over her Marxist thesis paper which she has yet to share with the Banking Committee. She wrote the thesis, titled “Karl Marx’s Economic Analysis and the Theory of Revolution,” while studying at Moscow State University in Russia decades ago.
...
“It’s people who are not going to be able to send their kids to college, who will not be able to make their mortgage payment because Saule Omarova has a classical Marxist view where she wants the government to run all sectors of the economy and part of that is implementing the Green New Deal,” he continued. “And you can only do that by destroying the oil and gas industry.”

They blamed the Texas blackout winter fiasco on Climate Change instead of shutting down reliable coal plants. Too bad for the people who died. Politics not Climate Change is what killed them.
She should not even be THINKING about policy changes that are outside of her sphere of influence. If Congress confirms her, all the pretense being put up by the Democrats is in the toilet.
I can’t post my thoughts.
Where are these idiots coming from?
Are there any university professors left there?
It seems like the thinking is right down their alley, and
that they have swarmed our government offices and
appointments.
Senator Joseph McCarthy once said of George Marshall in his role of Secretary of State:
"...What can be made of this unbroken series of decisions and acts contributing to the strategy of defeat? They cannot be attributed to incompetence. If Marshall were merely stupid, the laws of probability would dictate that part of his decisions would serve this country’s interest..."
That applies here in spades.
Flimsey Grahamnesty thinks Senile Joe should have whatever lunatics he wants.
Very good analogy. Nice...
In respect to the energy industry, there is a point that I have not often seen made yet. In addition to energy, natural gas is used to make nitrogen fertilizer that we use to grow corn and other crops. And there is a fertilizer shortage right now.
So what do the democrats do? Strive to make fertilizer more expensive by restricting the production of the raw material.`

“ Where are these idiots coming from?”
Your fascist government at work.
Thanks...I just cannot see how this is ALL ineptitude.
Which is a bit depressing, but...not like we haven’t seen this full blown Leftism coming on for years now.
“ Where are these idiots coming from?”
We have plenty of “fellow travelers” in our country, the amazing thing is how many are collected in DC.
These people believing that humans can do something about climate change are so ignorant and dumb, really thinking and believing they can do something to control this never ending cycle which has gone on for eons and will continue to do so either with us or without us. However I do believe to keep pollution down to a bare minimum and to a point what we can achieve with our current technology, and so far we have come a long way.
In a free country with a free economy, an industry withers and dies because consumers no longer have a need for their products and services and the industry cannot adapt to change. Industries in a free country don’t wither and die because a handful of people in the government use power they should not even have to starve industries to death. That what this one wants to do is even a possibility is a good indicator of where we are on the freedom scale.
I am sure Joe Manchin is going to be a no vote on this nominee. When you switching parties, Joe? Come on, I know you’ve got it in you, switch!
All carbon industry companies should take a two week vacation…
…that should be enough to prove the point.
Team Xi...
Can’t argue with that.
I agree. Sad but true.
First off coal is more expansive than gas plants to run even at $6 a MMbtu for gas. Second the TXRRC and the PUC absolutely ignored the gas industry professionals that in 2011 told both of them and the state legislature to harden the gas well heads and bury the surface running gathering lines below the frost line. The flat out ignored that after the 2011 snowmagedon. The vast majority of power capacity lost was thermal plants over 40 gigawatts worth. Including a 1350 megawatt nuclear reactor who’s operators also ignored the call to winterize and it’s cooling system froze solid. The RRC allowed the gas compressors which ran on gas in the pipeline they were pumping to be switched to electric pumps which were then not marked as critical need so when the rolling black outs started after the thermal plants that were not winterized froze those pumps went down and cascading failure of the gas supply followed sending more thermal plants off line 45% of Texas power is natural gas, less than 15% is coal scrubbers make coal much more expensive than gas and coal will NEVER be allowed to burn again without triple scrubbers and NOx,SOx,particulate traps. The drop out of wind was less than 8000 megawatts and ERCOT had already estimated less would be available. If the 40,000 megawatts of thermal power had been winterized and stayed online got a single customer would have lost power regardless of what the wind did. The power fiasco is 100% on the failure of the RRC and PUC to not winterize both the gas grid and thermal plants as they were repeatedly told to do so in 2008 again in 2011 and yet again in 2021 now. They won’t Texas ERCOT and the PUC are corrupt as all get out and only serve to make profits for their stake holders. Abbot is toast over him being in bed with the PUC and ERCOT Texans are done with crony capitalism.
