Former Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) warned Republicans Monday on CNN’s “The Situation Room” that those who downplay what happened during the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol are living in a “dystopian world.”
Discussing how to enforce the House Select Committee’s subpoenas, anchor Wolf Blitzer said, “You know, Governor Kasich, what’s your message to some of the members of your own Republican Party who are actually happy to let these witnesses off the hook?”

The only dystopian aspect to January 6 was how this was politically used by the Democrats to subdue their opposition (discredit and intimidate), by sticking federal intelligence and law enforcement on to them with the collusion of the media.
It’s a dystopian world all right, but the lies are yours, Mr. Kasich.

Who is downplaying it? We just aren’t making it out to be bigger than what it was - and doing so actually diminishes it. Nothing more than political posturing on the part of Kasich and his ilk.
The only thing that upsets me is President Trump giving them the opportunity - a final opportunity - to get “proof” that the lying stereotypes they had directed toward GOP/his supporters as a violent mob were all true. Only a tear drop of people actually entered the building lead by some nutcase wearing horns, shirtless with body painted and shouting nonsense from a mega phone - hardly a typical Republican or Trump supporter. That rally was ill advised - at least at that location. Walked right into the trap. Just like inviting Stephanopolous to come for an interview at the White House and other things like that to create sound clips and videos to drive massive negative news stories for a week that didn’t need to exist - diving right into their traps. Over and over again.
This is what has always bothered me. If it was an “insurrection,” why wasn’t a well-armed nation well-armed when attempting said “insurrection?”
If it was an “insurrection,” why wasn’t it necessary to clear the entire Capitol building room-by-room after days of prolonged negotiations and standoff? Why weren’t bodies from both sides stacked high?
Why were there no hostages?
Why were there no explosives?
Why was there no attempt to destroy the Capitol?
Why did the “insurrectionists” eventually get bored and leave?

The actions on January 6 are viewed by the Left with alarm, because the Left was all in for the election of Biden at all costs.
Bias distorts the left's view of these events.
In a nation where the citizens own over 400 million firearms, not a single firearm was brought onto the Capitol grounds. If this was truly an “insurrection” as the left likes to call it, that would not have been the case.
