Who is downplaying it? We just aren’t making it out to be bigger than what it was - and doing so actually diminishes it. Nothing more than political posturing on the part of Kasich and his ilk.
The only thing that upsets me is President Trump giving them the opportunity - a final opportunity - to get “proof” that the lying stereotypes they had directed toward GOP/his supporters as a violent mob were all true. Only a tear drop of people actually entered the building lead by some nutcase wearing horns, shirtless with body painted and shouting nonsense from a mega phone - hardly a typical Republican or Trump supporter. That rally was ill advised - at least at that location. Walked right into the trap. Just like inviting Stephanopolous to come for an interview at the White House and other things like that to create sound clips and videos to drive massive negative news stories for a week that didn’t need to exist - diving right into their traps. Over and over again.
It doesn’t matter what Trump did or didn’t do, the Press, which is the Propaganda Wing of the Deep State was going to do something to nail Trump.
