ON PRAYER

The Sacred Scriptures urge us to pray always. That seems impossible at first sight; you can't spend your life on your knees. But people pray in many ways. Physical positions and movements, the lotus position for Buddhists, kneeling and folding hands for many Christian faith groups are prayer. Any attention paid to God is prayer.

Whether or not any words are spoken, the actions themselves express awareness of, and communication with, God. As St. Teresa of Avila put it, way back in the 16th century, "For though we are always in the presence of God, it seems to me that those who practice prayer are especially so, because they can see all the time that God is looking at them; whereas others may be in the Lord's presence for several days without ever remembering that God can see them".

Keep the Lord’s Day in the Lord’s way.

A blessed Twenty-Fourth Sunday after Pentecost (Western)/Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost (Orthodox) to all!

here is where we went:

Added bonus:

It is in a town where Mom and Dad used to rent a cottage on a lake every summer for about nine years...the BEST memories of our childhood!

Good evening, radu, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Is the harvesting done yet? Can you breathe?

Just plain gloomy here. A bit of snow, a but of rain....cold and gloomy.

Howdy, Kathy.

Harvesting isn’t close to done yet. They were here all day and are finished with our fields yet. Then they have the huge field across the road to do. No breathing freely for a while yet.

I saw it was another gloomy day up there. We finally had a beautiful day though a little cool with a biting breeze. Next week will be delightful with highs around 70. I can live with that! LOL

Howdy, luvie.

How goes it down your way this weekend? Still enjoying cool temps? Still cool here but it was a gorgeous sunny day for a change.

Hey there, radu!

Yes, it was beautiful here and was 78 degrees. It’s going to be in the high 70s till Thursday and then back down to the 60s. We haven’t had any measurable rain in so long, I can’t even remember when it was. sigh

Glad it was nice there. I take it that it was pleasant up on the mountain, too? Were y’all busy?

Y'all are bordering on quite warm this week, aren't you? But high 70s are still comfortable. I do wish you could get some rain down there because you need it so badly.

It was a bit brisk on the mountain this weekend. Yesterday was gloomy and a cold 44 degrees to the 54 degrees down here. Today was 55 there with a biting breeze and 65 down here. At least we had sunshine today.

It was very slow yesterday but we were busy today. Lots of fun folks. My last tour was with an Iraq war vet and his wife and they were a blast.

But the real blast happened when I was between tours. Boss Man showed up with a 1944 Dodge ¾ ton weapons carrier that his father bought 52 years ago. It hadn't run for many years. Boss Man spent the last three years working on it and has it running in tip-top shape now.

He asked if I'd like to go for a short spin and he didn't have to ask twice! LOL His mom, who works there on Saturdays, popped off a shot as we were getting ready to take off. What a thrill to get a chance to ride in a piece of history.

Oh, WOW!!! Good weekend, and that ride in the truck had to be the icing on the cake! And what a clear blue sky to do it in. I do notice you have a jacket on, though. LOL!

Today was an excellent day. WELL worth waking up early for. LOL And yes, taking that short spin was definitely the icing on the cake.

The sky was VERY blue today. Not a cloud in sight. This morning was an adventure when I drove up there though. Pea-soup fog which is never fun to drive in.

That jacket was necessary. It might look like it was warm in the pic but the wind made it uncomfortable.

The only downside to the day was coming home to the combine in the front field. It was right along the edge of the field next to the driveway and I drove through flying bits of cotton. Ugh!

Ugh. What a horrible ending to a beautiful day! Just reading that about the flying cotton made me start coughing! Ack!

Yeah, can’t say I was happy about it but hey, we can’t have perfection a 100% of the time. LOL The good definitely out-weighed the bad though. It was such a fun day at the museum all around. All of us had a great time with the people we took through.

We still have at least another week of dealing with this mess. They still have the big field across the road to harvest. And with it warming up the next week, prevailing winds will be out of the south and that field is south of us. *sigh*

Oh how much fun next week is going to be with even more cotton crap flying around.

Is he going to allow guests of the museum to take rides on that truck? I’ll bet they’d pay to get to. Just a thought.

We are definitely NOT looking forward to the next week. And of all times for them to be out there trashing there air - - when it’s going to be warm and we’d like to spend time outside. Drat!

No, guests will not be taken for rides in the truck. I was surprised he offered me a ride, but I was VERY pleased. I think it was to make up for me not getting to ride in the British troop transport the day that showed up early this year. I’ve picked on him a lot about that. LOL

It will be displayed at the museum and when they get invited to be in parades, they’ll take it out and carry a veteran in it like they do with other museum vehicles that are in running condition.

You just don’t catch a break where cotton is concerned. Every stage of it’s growth brings a new allergen. I hope it’s still warm enough to go out after they’ve finished.

This stuff should have been gone long ago. I can’t recall harvest going on this late in the year since I’ve lived here. But everything was planted late, then stunted for a while by a late cold blast, and everything’s running late this year. I’m so ready for it to be over.

We’ll have great weather through Thursday, then it gets cold again ..... right about the time they’ll be finished across the road.

Of course it WOULD be cold when the harvest is done. Maybe not too cold to go out for a bit. We can hope. It’s going to be 81 today and Monday, which kind of sux. LOL!

It will be around 50 next weekend. Not frigid but not go-out-and-play weather. LOL It’ll be even chillier on the mountain.

I wouldn’t mind your 81 degrees for a day or two. LOL

Is it still jumpsuit weather in your neck o’ da woods? Not so much fun for you but Gizmo seems to like it.

I’ll probably be glad for those 81 days before winter is finally over, but right now, they’re just a bore.

Guess I’d better go. I know...DST ends, but my sleep will still be messed up and 7:30 still comes too darn early. See ya tomorrow!
