Democratic political strategist James Carville blamed his party's recent losses and weak performance in state elections on "stupid wokeness" on Wednesday.
"PBS NewsHour" host Judy Woodruff asked Carville what went wrong for the Democratic Party in the Virginia gubernatorial race in which Republican Glenn Youngkin beat former Gov. Terry McAuliffe.
"What went wrong is just stupid wokeness. Don't just look at Virginia and New Jersey. Look at Long Island, look at Buffalo, look at Minneapolis, even look at Seattle, Wash. I mean this 'defund the police' lunacy, this take Abraham Lincoln's name off schools. I mean that-people see that," Carville said.
"It's just really--has a suppressive effect all across the country on Democrats. Some of these people need to go to a 'woke' detox center or something," he added. "They're expressing a language that people don't use, and there's backlash and a frustration at that."
Democratic New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy narrowly eked out a reelection victory on Wednesday, another indication of Democrats diminishing strength in state elections.
Carville said that suburbanites in Virginia and New Jersey "pulled away" from such "wokeness". He pointed out that Youngkin never ran any ads against President Biden and suggested that the Republican candidate had simply allowed the Democrats to "pull the pin and watch the grenade go off."...

I get Judy Woodruff mixed up with Leslie Stahl.
Both in their 70’s. Both seem to have been around forever.
Wow. I actually agree with James Carville.
Should I be scared?
SMH, it’s now your party’s platform...Alexandre “Dumas”!
i gotta say...ol serpent head has been on CNN the last 6 months warning the dems about this woke qarbage...
Penis Head is not wrong but “woke” is a cult that will have to beaten out of the believers with defeat after defeat.
Shut up Carville. Quit telling them what they did wrong. You still ought to hang with them since you support them.
Carville sounds very old fashioned and hasn’t kept up with the times. He isn’t work at all.
Maybe he should change party affiliations. “The party left him.”
While the Woke may not yet be the majority of Democrats they can easily bully the rest because they appear invincible within their ranks.
Democrats seem to operate on two primary bases: accommodation and fear.
The Woke have forged the appearance of real strength on both accounts: they hold the keys of social acceptance which on hand lends itself to accommodation to their demands and they can bully any who dare resist, and with that get others to likewise bully the targets of their wrath, for with the Woke the only way to be accepted is to be one, and virtue signaling along with participating in bullying is about the only way to avoid their wrath.
The whole process is irrational, where the loudest and most outrageous have power because they are so very loud and unforgiving.
Republicans, at least those in office, tend to not understand that Democrats are implacable foes but even still it is amazing we find examples who think they can get along with the Woke at all.
Truly, there are many “Republicans” who may as well be Democrats but are there any Democrats who are secretly Republicans? That ship, even the possibility of it, seems to have sailed years ago.
If any stays with the Democrats they will inexorably be hauled down into shame with them.
It’s a pity the Republicans so often prefer, eagerly prefer, the Democrats over those who vote for them, Stockholm Syndrome abounds even discounting the secret Democrats.
Hell no.... Double agent.
He has a scorching case of serpent-head-itus, but he’s not wrong. He just hasn’t realized that the new left consists of an ever shrinking circular firing squad executing themselves over the latest lame outrage they decide to complain about.
FReegards
He was all for it, when he thought the Rats would win.
dont give carville credit
it’s not that he is against doing all this stuff
its the “poor implementation” of it that hes upset about
he understands socialism makes its best progress in slow, largely unnoticed, increments
this is what he’s really angry about
when you rush it, people notice and might be able to get enough people to object and stop what they are trying to do
You get truth from a few AFTER they lose. He’ll forget all of what he just said by February and say Democrats are ALL on the same team fighting “white supremacists” because that and the climate boogeyman all they got to enslave the sheep, and time is running out.
Biden was running 3rd or 4th when Carville and some other Dem leaders had everyone drop out and endorse Biden. Was one after another they cut some deal, got paid off in whatever way, and endorsed Biden. Joe was selected not elected as Bernie had won a couple states early.
Then they had to have the $400+ million in Zuck bucks to buy 4 or 5 states through ‘motor voter’ midnight dumps.
Democrats are doing a slow boil destruction of America. The heat just got to hot for the crabs. Was okay to vote against “grab them by the p” Trump. But the soccer moms saw their kids were being taught Marxist lunacy and the heat burnt a bit too much.
Wonder why he kept this sage analysis and advice to himself until after the Dem Wipeout of 2021.
Carville, yeesh.
Well I certainly don’t disagree with ole’ James Carville on this one.

That's because no one speaks Alligator anymore, except maybe Joseph Choi.
Serpent Head. That was Rush’s name for him. Gosh, I sure miss that guy.
Shoot. Where’s The Squad? You mean they’re not on the track doing victory laps?
