It's unlikely that China will make some kind of move on Taiwan within the next two years, U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley said on Wednesday.

Milley's comments came amid heightened tension in the region and U.S. reassurances that it would stand with Taiwan against Chinese aggression.

Milley was asked on Wednesday whether he thought China was preparing to make a move on Taiwan within the near future.

My wife is from Shanghai, and she keeps up with family and friends in China. She showed me postings on her phone that showed many large military airlift planes landing at an airfield near the coast. Next she showed me railroad boxcars in camouflage packed into a multi-track rail yard. That was also near the coast. Then she showed me pictures of trains carrying troops into that area.

The invasion of Taiwan seems to be forming up. Folks in China think such is the case.
