President Joe Biden effusively praised Pope Francis on Sunday, reflecting on his personal audience he had at the Vatican on Friday.
“He is everything I learned about Catholicism from the time I was a kid going from grade school through high school,” Biden said.
The president spoke about Pope Francis at a press conference with reporters in Europe after the G20 Summit.
“This is a man of great empathy. He’s a man who understands that part of his Christianity is to reach out and forgive,” Biden said.

Yesterday was Reformation Day, of course. On the way home from the Reformation service (where I got to blow out all the dust from the organ pipes playing “A Mighty Fortress,” but I digress) I put on Relevant Radio, the Catholic network, and got to hear all the reasons Martin Luther was a heretic and the worst thing that ever happened to the One True Church, and why indulgences are really a good thing, when they aren’t screwed with like Tetzel did. I had to keep from laughing out loud, considering the present Shoes of the Fisherman guy, who is the worst thing that happened to the church than the original Jesuit, Ignatius. (At least Francis Xavier, the “other” Francis and the best Jesuit there ever was, preached the gospel throughout Asia and brought 1/4 of the 16th century samurai into the Kingdom.)
Joe never heard the Gospel.

It is no wonder the Roman Catholic Church in the US is a dead man walking, reduced to fire sales to fund the hierarchy (and Vatican City).
