Something Big is Coming
American Thinker.com ^ | October 31, 2021 | Clarice Feldman

Dilbert creator Scott Adams tweeted this week: ”The country’s energy is strange. Everything is amped up in every direction. Something big is coming.” He’s rarely wrong about such things.

Adams said he doesn’t know what that something big is, but I’m hoping it is a major shift in America’s political tectonic plates. I may be looking too hard for it, but I, too, feel it in my bones.

Infrastructure Faceplant

For one thing the wacky spending program the Democrats were proposing and fiddling with seems to have hit the shoals, trapped between the far left and the more moderate senators Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin. Even the leftward Politico cannot spackle over the dilemma, a dilemma that is the only thing preventing Democrats from turning our constitutional republic into a totalitarian socialist economic mess in which only the most authoritarian and corrupt rule over a greatly impoverished citizenry.

For the second time in less than a month, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her leadership team had to delay a vote on Senate-passed infrastructure bill amid progressive opposition, denying President Joe Biden a much-needed win as Democrats’ bigger, $1.75 trillion social spending plan also remains in limbo.

“I think it’s wholly apparent that today was not a success,” said Virginia Rep. Abigail Spanberger, whose state has a high-stakes gubernatorial showdown Tuesday that Democrats were hoping to boost with the infrastructure vote.

“Because people choose to be obstructionists, we’re not delivering these things to my state or to the rest of the country,” the swing-district Democrat added. “I guess we’ll just wait because apparently failing roads and bridges can just wait in the minds of some people.”

My state doubled the price for car registrations and added more tax to the gas all to fix roads. This was 2 yrs ago, and I have yet to see any major road rebuilding. Just as this trillion will fix nothing.

“I guess we’ll just wait because apparently failing roads and bridges can just wait in the minds of some people.”

Apparently this lying sack of dung doesn’t get out much in her district. The interstates are constantly being upgraded and many of the bridges are toll-supported. Nice try, bitch.

“I guess we’ll just wait because apparently failing roads and bridges can just wait in the minds of some people.”

Early on, it was reported that the bill contained only about 250 billion for actual roads and bridges. The rest is give aways and porkie type sh*t.

NEVER trust a dumblecrat on any subject.

Roads and bridges are the states responsibility. The federal government isn’t even supposed to be involved in roads except when they cross state lines. They had to make up the excuse about being able to move the military around in order to even legally get involved in the interstate highway system in the first place.

Well, they went all in blaming Trump for everything, so when he left office everything was supposed to get better, right? Only it didn’t, and a number of Trump’s policies have aged well, which doesn’t fit with the narrative of him being the greatest evil of our age. And the whole country is now stuck in the Democrats toxic marriage between the business lobby and the Left.

Trump ran as a populist, and without centrist populists you just have the Left Libertarians and the Right Libertarians shredding the country over issues like abortion and the whole pot-smoking granola-crunching hippy clown-show.

I was just going to “remark” on what that idiot Spanberger said, but you did better.

She is crazy to think the public isn’t aware of what she and her friends WANT TO BRING TO HER HOME STATE.

What a witch.

I’m starting to think interstates were numbered bases on the years they’d be under construction.

the swing-district Democrat added. “I guess we’ll just wait because apparently failing roads and bridges can just wait in the minds of some people.”

Democrats didn't mind waiting when it was Trump proposing an infrastructure bill.

People need to know how much of that “infrastructure” vote is actually for “infrastructure”. I don’t think they will get the answers from Democrats in many cases. I always did say that one vote in Congress should apply to only one line item & that line item veto should be available to a president. Of course, if the first is honestly applied then presumably the second isn’t needed.

There is actually some justification in the Constitution for the feds being involved in major interstate roads.

In Article I Section 8, Congress is given the power

To establish Post Offices and post Roads;

Where a “post road” is defined as a major road used for transportation between states and major cities, as distinct from local roads.
