President Joe Biden revisited his love of trains during a trip to his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, promising to get millions of vehicles off the roads.

“We will take literally millions of automobiles off the road,” Biden boasted, arguing that more high-speed trains like the ones constructed in China would make trains more attractive.

We have friends who had a sister come visit from Montana.

The sister is a train lover and her 2 something day trip turned out to be 4+.

“Bidet will be the first pfascist who could not manage to make the trains run on time.”

That’s why Progressives want gun prohibition.

Without financial incentive to make trains run on time, the only incentive Fascists can offer is to destroy the lives of anyone who fails to make a train run on time - and you can’t do that to a populace capable of destroying Fascists in return.

In the age of Covid it is so much safer to travel on trains then in private cars...

I’m sure he is not aware of the contradictions in his policies.

GOOD one.

Ashamed to admit I’ve been thinking that for days...but not as succinctly and hurorously as you phrased it.

See #62.
CCP can build high speed trains competently because they’re willing to destroy anyone assigned to the task who fails.
Need a right-of-way? send in the bulldozers.
Bureaucrat failed to meet a deadline? someone’s getting a new kidney.
Engineer not sure how to make high-mass maglev work? prospect of metabolic interruption will help.

Everything the leftist Democrats do is just a re-branding of the disastrous communist “five year plans” of Soviet Russia and China. WTF? How do we find ourselves living this dystopian farce with such great “conservative” leadership? If the useless, angry letters they ceaselessly crank out only weighed just a bit more each then they certainly would have crushed the corporate fascist menace that plague us.

McConnell, McCarthy, Liz Cheney and all the other Bush Crime Family pukes need to be booted out of office. I will look at the results of the 2022 Republican primary to decide whether I will even bother to volunteer or even vote in the general election. If the RINO leadership's candidates totally prevail and the GOP gets even worse, I may even vote in the general for the leftists Democrats just to take out the traitorous leadership.

For example, if Liz Cheney wins her 2022 Republican primary election in Wyoming, where the Republican base hates her so totally, would be proof for myself and countless others that the GOPe RINOs rigged the primary election.  It would be just like how the Democratic Party leadership rigged their own 2019 Democratic Party presidential primary election.   Remember the national Democratic Party's rigging of the Iowa caucuses that delayed the results for over a week at the beginning of the 2020 presidential nominating battle?  Slow Joe prevailed because of that fraud and now we have a cabal of leftist agitators ruling us through that meat-puppet President.

As things stand now, why should we vote for the controlled opposition of faithless GOPe Beltway grifters who take orders from their “opposition partners”? Hundreds of thousands of Americans have just been fired for standing up for the basic, fundamental right to control their own bodies against totalitarian medical mandates and the GOP failed at stopping it. All that voting for RINO politicians accomplishes is to create a team of preening, overpaid, crypto-leftist creeps that block any attempts to fight back and for the leftist Democrats to hide behind.

The GOP is in a position of do-or-die and if they fail us again they will go the way of the Whig Party - extinct.

I’m driving from Maryland to central Vermont next week for work. I checked the route on Google Maps and it also showed a rail route. Going by Amtrak takes a full three hours longer.

I think that also includes part of the route on Acela

“Don’t get on the trains. It’s a trap!”

That was my thought when I read the headline.

I agree that it's much easier to drive to your destination. However, at 77 years old, I've found that it's easier for me to take Amtrak from Salem, OR to Seattle rather than driving the I-5. I used to do it regularly, but the I-5 has gotten so difficult for me, especially through the unending construction through Tacoma, and then - Seattle traffic.

What makes it an adventure (ha!) is that I have to drive to Salem, leave my car there. Then upon arrival in Seattle, take an Uber to the Washington State Ferry terminal, and take the ferry to Bainbridge Island, where my daughter picks me up. Then the reverse on my way back home.

<In Scranton, Biden spoke at length about his long history of riding Amtrak, boasting he rode the train more than two million miles while he was senator and vice president.

90 min schedule time for the train and min of fifteen minutes each end from the train. FOUR HOURS PLUS every day.
A waste of time.

I did ride the train on and off for years.
Maybe read the paper or mostly listen to some loudmouth on their cellphone mostly Arabic(?)

For me stuck in traffic was a very attractive option.

To all:

I am old enough to remember when workers lived within walking distance of where they worked and when Tennessee Ernie Ford’s
I owe my soul to the company store’ was reality, not theater.

The dims intend for us to return to those days. Just read what they say.

The day of jumping in your family car at the end of the work week and driving to the beach for the weekend will be over.

The day of three cars and a pickup, a Harley and a boat in a three member family yard will be over.

All of these things brought to us by cheap fossil fuel, cheap electricity and the modern automobile.

I don’t think the American people are going to allow that to be taken from them.

So much for those Sunday afternoon rides with the family. We have all dispursed to other homes, but Sunday still remains as a chance to get away and enjoy the countryside.

Certainly, trains work for some - just as other options work for some.
It’s this urban-progressives attitude of “eliminate cars completely! trains for everyone!” that most of us have a problem with.
And, alas, insofar as trains work well for some, trains need darned near everyone to use them to work beyond a pretty limited scale (which you happened to be in, so it worked for you).

He wants 3.5 trillion to build inter structure but will take cars off the highway. Now do we really needs billions in roads and bridges if we have no cars?

Note he said "cars", not "vehicles". Taking the cars off the Interstate system leave said system open to over-the-road truck traffic.
