Army Reservist Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, who was known among colleagues for sporting a "Hitler mustache," was demoted and discharged after he was charged in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, The Washington Post reported on Wednesday.
“This was a knee-jerk reaction to the charges,” Jonathan Crisp, Hale-Cusanelli’s attorney, told the Post. Hale-Cusanelli is the first known discharge from the military due to charges in connection with the assault.
Crisp called the June less-than-honorable discharge “improper,” citing his client’s inability to defend himself due to his incarceration and inability to make comments without violating his Fifth Amendment rights in the Capitol case.

That moustache style was very popular around the world back then. I had a professor in college who wore the same style. He didn’t like how his nose looked without it.
Question for leftist.
Why is a toothbrush mustache (Hitler mustache) any worse than a Walrus mustache (Stalin Mustache)?
My father had a fellow military buddy who had a ‘Hitler’ moustache. I always thought to myself... Why would you sport such an infamous moustache style?
I was a kid and polite and respected my elders, so I never asked the man himself and my dad pointed out that it was also Charlie Chaplin’s style and that that a lot of people used to have it, and some just kept going with it.
Chaplin was a comedian who made fun of Hitler, and Hitler was bloodthirsty tyrant... So was this dude sporting a ‘Hitler’ moustache or a ‘Chaplin’ moustache? Hmm.
I’d say given the whole “sacking of the seat of government, and then trying to blame the Left for it” thing, it’s probably Hitler.
Or a clean upper lip (Mao-stache).
Tons of men had that mustache long before Hitler showed up . Hitler only had the mustache to cover his terrible teeth ,LOL
For that matter something just occurred to me: are there any Freepers who are currently in uniform: Active Duty,National Guard or Reserves? Actually,I can understand if any such Freepers would be reluctant to admit it...for obvious reasons.
Has been since the early ‘80s. So revolting I think they thought most troopies wouldn’t bother, but there’s always those few. Back in the day, the airborne people wouldn’t even allow those, but that may have changed.
Do not forget Oliver Harder (Laurel and Hardy) had a toothbrush mustache too!
From my minimal military experience, conflicts over grooming standards are rarely the entire/primary problem.
A hitler mustache? Or was it an Oliver Hardy mustache? Or perhaps a Charlie Chaplin mustache?
Apparently during WW2 to get gas masks to fit properly you needed to have very trim facial hair (or preferably none). Mutton chops and handlebar mustaches were out, Charlie Chaplin style toothbrush mustaches were in. And a lot of men continued with the style after the War. Hitler was one of them, but certainly not the only one.
Charlie Chaplin moustache.
I believe it was known as a toothbrush mustache. Very popular at that time. Even Oliver Hardy wore one.
Oliver Hardy (Laurel & Hardy) and Charlie Chaplin all sported toothbrush mustaches.
