And it’s about to get worse. CARB’s gonna force all vehicles over 14k with diesels to get strict biannual smog inspections, including diesel electric engines for trains. Boats are included too. Either you get the inspections or you wire up to your engine(on your dime of course) a monitor that will tell carb when your engine is having issues, so they can fine you. They call it “ditching dirty diesel”

CA doesn’t need to collude with EPA for anything. CARB does what it wants and its de facto law in CA.

“newer cargo ships—some launched recently—carry about 25-30% more cargo. Obviously, this takes 25-30% longer to unload.”

If you spend 25% more time to get 25% more cargo then this slows nothing down.

Larger ships could actually speed up unloading. There is less down time between ships. 1,000 containers is 1,000 containers. If they were all on one boat I think it would be faster than if they were on two boats because you would have to wait for one to pull away and the next one to dock.

Hint: both the President and the Governor have the ability to override any regulations disrupting the supply chain under the State of Emergency.

Don’t we all think it is time to start pushing these two idiots to get their act together and do their job putting commerce back in motion.

I mean...isn’t it a Constitutional issue when one State interferes in commerce of another State? Article 1, Section 8, Clause 3 of the U.S. Constitution

Maybe...just maybe California is in violation and their law is unconstitutional and every State now is aware of how a badly drafted law is affecting commerce of the whole nation.

“One of the things no one talks about much is that the newer cargo ships”

But it’s not the size of the ships. It’s the amount of goods that America has bought from faraway places.

“... stimulus payments. We printed a bunch of money and people spent it on stuff from China since much of the service industries were shutdown”

I like that explanation because it explains why the problem didn’t happen earlier.

“Driving a big rig is not something just anyone can do. It requires a lot of self discipline, close attention to detail and rigorous focus.”

Having driven across the country a few times lately, truck drives do none of that. They are terrible drivers.

I spent 30 years doing queuing analysis.

Your theory is linear thinking. That is not how queuing works.

I know a few things about this topic. Simply put. The pinch points are everywhere. Our economy and logistics live on the margins. If 5% becomes disjointed, the remaining 95% greatly suffers. The shut downs started and people greatly increased consumption. Now we have a mess that doesn’t have a clear solution other than time.

Martin Armstrong is claiming the “transitory” shortages and inflation will be going strong for ten years!

Yep because we lost so many drivers to retirement they are desperate for drivers. They hiring too many people ill suited to the job.

Seeing a lot of people driving trucks who are not going to last doing it

I can vouch for that. Lost count on the number of truck drivers that pulled out in front of other drivers on grade plugging up that lane for miles. Made me fantasize about a 20mm roof mounted cannon with tracking and auto-lock.

Another day of missing chassis at the ports. #PortGate

Per this trucker, they were sending truckers away.

And the port isn't running 24/7. It's closed for parts of Friday and Saturday, and all of Sunday.

OK I’ll give you the reason. Trump’s EO from 2018 which states that any foreign actor found to have interefered in US elections has committed an act of war and among other things cannot do business with the US. IMO and quite a few others that is what’s happening. Trump and the White hats are destroying China’s economy. It has nothing to do with lack of workers to unload or truck drivers.

Many people believe that the Biden administration/deepstate are doing this deliberately to destroy our economy and bring in the great reset. I thought that at first but have over time come to a different conclusion based on what I see happening here and what I think is going on behind the scenes.

I think we are going to find out pretty soon as events appear to be escalating.

That would make sense…except the product is paid for at loading. So, the economic impact on China is negligible. At least for now.

My understanding is that there are no empty containers heading back to China so no more goods coming our way at some point. Obviously this is all conjecture as we don’t know for sure exactly what is transpiring because most of it is happening behind the scenes or being hidden in plain sight due to the western press refusing to report on it.

I’m just looking at everything going on here and after you block out the white noise from the press and their influencers the reality of our present situation just doesn’t make sense.

9 months later and Washington DC is still a ghost town. Not a peep is ever said about it. Almost all federal buildings abandoned.

No legislation being passed except for the original stimulus bill.

Biden has not voided Trump’s EO from 2018 or negated Trumps state of national emergency. They are still in effect. Crazy but as far as I know true.

The Biden regime has not been able to pass any law enforcing vaccine mandates or really even declared a mandate. They are attempting to get private enterprise to do it for them with the assistance of the press.

This whole “new administration” since Jan 20th feels false and contrived. Its like I’m watching a movie. Trump is openly traveling around and acting like he’s still the President with a full presidential motorcade. I think that on some level he is still the President and the cabal is being allowed to act out. Otherwise if Trump was not being protected by the military or some facet of the military he would already have been killed.

So I don’t know but this is way murkier than it appears on Fox News. Just my opinion.

A few years ago ex-cons could not be drivers. I think that also has changed.
