If this is the PRC plan, it’s a pretty bad one. They need air and naval superiority in the Taiwan straight to even think about an amphibious invasion.

You can bet that the reason that xi would talk to joe is so as to get reassurance from the president that should china invade taiwan—the USA would not intervene.
somewhere along the line in the next couple of years—xi will get enough leverage over joe —whether real or imagined— that joe will give xi the reassuarance he needs to go ahead with the invasion—assured that biden would not intervene.
It would take an act of God to keep this from happening.
My prayers are that Joe does NOT give XI the green light to invade Taiwan.
