Lawmakers in Philadelphia have passed legislation barring cops from making minor traffic stops that critics say unfairly target minorities — becoming the first major US city to do so.
Mayor Jim Kenney is expected to sign the legislation into law in the coming days, and it would take effect 120 days after that, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
The Philadelphia City Council voted 14-2 on Thursday to pass the Driving Equality Bill — designed to reduce “unequal police practices” against minority motorists, or what’s been called “driving while black,” for minor offenses such as busted tail lights or expired inspection stickers.
A companion bill that passed Thursday also mandates the creation of a public database of traffic stops, allowing users to search data about the alleged infraction.
“These bills end the traffic stops that promote discrimination while keeping the traffic stops that promote public safety,” the city council said in a statement. “This approach seeks to redirect police time and resources towards keeping Philadelphians safe while removing negative interactions that widen the divide and perpetuate mistrust.”

Exactly correct. A morning at Traffic Court will confirm this too, as does listening to one of our local radio station’s “Morning Show”, during which they (with a hint of dry mirth, I think) report on the local arrests the last day or so. You’d think that after a generation or more of the pattern, the idiots trying to run, say, $50k of meth across town would learn to at least not make themselves obvious targets for traffic stops. But, no....
“It includes such accidents as firing a weapon from a speeding vehicle,”
They really need to promote the use of a “Designated Shooter”. The science is settled that shooting and actually hitting the target while diving is extremely difficult, especially for the right-handed.
Already happening in Northern Virginia.
Figgers
Yep. I can see it now.
In the last few months I’ve seen, in Northern VA:
A car with RED fog lights on the front.
A car with BLUE (like police light blue) fog lights on the front.
A truck with flashing blue and red lights in the wheel wells.
A car with the rear brake lights somehow jacked up so that the rear brake lights are bright white aftermarket LED lights. It looked like the reverse lights were on.
A vehicle where the 3rd brake light flashed with the turn signals.
This is more than just blown bulbs.. This is people screwing around with the lighting on their vehicle without a clue or care.
Yep....turning Philly into Detroit.
Thats OK, they can still make major traffic stops:
To quote that great philosopher Clevon Little, “Where the white wimmon at?”
Power in the hands of women is rough enough....power in the hands of a black woman your asking for problems.....with precious few exceptions.
We should be concentrating on those who have funded this and are deliberately creating conditions of a breakdown in civil society namely soros, gates Rockefeller and others
A win for the crazy sovereign citizens. (If you don’t know what sovereign citizens are, check out sovereign citizens on YouTube.)
“The fun begins when people start ignoring ‘minor traffic’ rules and intersections and streets become free for alls and people take matters into their own hands.”
Just import a bunch of Californians to your city and you’ll see plenty of it.
It's time to elevate a new 'victim group' to national status. The black 'My Family Were Slaves And That's Why I'm So Violent' crap has jumped the shark.
15 Walgreen’s stores in San Fran are closed over the shoplifting rules:
Anything under $999 doesn’t get arrested/charged.
The STAGGERING losses those stores suffered has caused there to be NO such stores in those communities.
Let me guess:
More of the “Skittles” crowd?????
Good point...
I've seen both. You're talking about the 1967 version.
