Jobless claims fall below 300k for first week since lockdowns © Getty Images New weekly claims for jobless aid sunk to a pandemic low last week, according to data released Thursday by the Labor Department, falling below 300,000 for the first time since COVID-19 shattered the economy.

In the week ending Oct. 9, seasonally adjusted initial claims for unemployment insurance fell to 293,000, a decline of 36,000 from the previous week’s revised total. Claims dropped to the lowest level since the week of March 14, 2020,

Jobless claims have been sinking steadily for some time now, with hiccups of course, but the trend down continues. When I searched the title, multiple articles from the last few months came up saying the same thing. It's a trend, not a one-off report. "Claims dropped to lowest level since March 14, 2020." That was the very beginning of the lockdowns.

See, brandon was right. Economic recovery is going full blast despite his inheriting such a crap one from the last administration. NOT!

Will not be shocked if the Buden Junta massages the numbers, given the ghastly polling.

When the State of New York says no one let go from lack of having the vaccine can file for unemployment, they do not show up in “1st time unemployment” claims.

It’s like cities saying shoplifting is not a crime, so, just like that, they completely eliminated shoplifting from their crime stats.

That would make sense. Employers are having a harder time finding employees and everyone they wanted to get rid of has been gotten rid of. Actual unemployment is so high there is little reason to lay people off. There are few left to lay off.

I would completely expect the numbers to be down. In fact, if they start rising again, I’d start buying lots of beans and rice and head for the hills.

These are people who had jobs, and for some reason, no longer have those jobs.

Huh.

What could explain this?

Huh.

Transportation issues.

I wonder if Bitme’s handlers will insist on another very short press conference so he can run off stage again. That was one of the weakest moments I’ve ever seen of a US president. It was actually embarrassing. It might even top Carter’s “malaise” babbling.

And yet 4.3 million quit their jobs in August.

The number of people working are keeping their jobs, and there are fewer people in the workforce, meaning that, there aren’t enough people wanting to quit their jobs. And, people sitting on their asses at home aren’t eligible to put in claims for unemployment.

Biden pays truck drivers to stay home, raises fuel prices to the point that truck driving isn't profitable, then pretends he'll replace them with National Guard troops if they don't get back to work.....

Will somebody please read this on the evening news?!?!?!?

What’s the labor participation rate? That’s the thing, few are actually working. So ether their benefits have expired, or they are not looking for a job. With fewer working, there are a lot less excess employees and a lot less leaving their job. If you don’t have a job, how can you leave a job?

As I see it, the number of new jobless claims means nothing. What matters is the total number of working-age people who are not working.

One thing to remember is that millions of people were collecting unemployment for over a year. They haven’t worked in over a year, and don’t qualify for a new claim, even if they just got laid off from a recent job.

“Will not be shocked if the Buden Junta massages the numbers, given the ghastly polling.”

Fortunately those numbers are easily known by a lot of people who get them piece by piece direct from the sources, have done so for years because of their businesses or other positions and can compare their piece with other researchers/record keepers.

“And yet 4.3 million quit their jobs in August.”

There has been a surge of people starting their own businesses from home, something that has been predicted for years but is now happening. Also, people are discovering that new jobs have opened up that are superior in pay/benefits to their current jobs.

Anyone that wants to work can, easily. Some are too scared, some are still riding the benefit train, and more Boomers retire every month and will for years, we are early in the Boomer exodus from work.

When Trump got unemployment to 3.7% it was a virtually unseen level since record keeping began. Blacks had a record low unemployment level too.

Now at 4.8% it’s the End of World. Give me a break, 4.8% is low unemployment. Economists call 5% full employment.

And for those who like to say all the numbers are fake, etc. let’s see your numbers and sources that are the “real figures”. Kind of like OJ’s real killers.
