The transplant team at University of Colorado Hospital has determined that it is necessary to place you inactive on the waiting list. You will be inactivated on the list for non-compliance by not receiving the COVID vaccine. You will have 30 days to begin the vaccination series. If your decision is to refuse COVD vaccination you will be removed from the kidney transplant list. You will continue to accrue waiting time, but you will not receive a kidney offer while listed inactive. Once you complete the COVID vaccination series you will be reactivated on the kidney transplant list pending any other changes in your health condition.

Attached is a letter from the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). It describes services and information offered to patients by UNOS and the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network.

This is one of the few situations where, IMHO, vaccination requirements make a semblance of sense. Once an organ transplant recipient actually receives an organ, from what I understand they go on meds to SUPPRESS THEIR IMMUNE SYSTEM so the donated organ is not rejected. That makes them subsequently very susceptible to infections. What otherwise would be a minor infection can easily kill them.
There are many people on WAITING lists to receive an organ transplant. It makes sense to give an organ to a person most likely to successfully receive the transplant and live.
Good point but Katie is part of it. Like the good genocidal soldier just following orders, but think of all the nurses and staff that lost their livelihoods because they refused to take the shot, they are heroic.
Even the vax skeptics like Berenson and Malone think high risk patients should get the shots and being in bad enough shape to need a new kidney qualifies.
She can not get any shots until her system has recovered enough to fight off the effects of a “harmless” vaccine of any type.
Maybe I need to change my organ donor card to exempt those who have been vaccinated...I wonder how that would be perceived....

What happened to “do no harm.” Totally immoral on their part. Maybe they will take certain races off their list, if there’s a study that can show they don’t live as long with organ transplants as other races.
I’m not big on organ donation, but maybe it’s time Christians got together and created a kidney donor list of their own, for *anyone* who needs one.

My brother got his transplant through Our Lady of Lourdes. The stipulation were pretty strict for receiving one. He got bumped up the list when he got cancer of the liver. Lots of hoops to jump through, but there is only a limited # of organs. He is on his third year with his new liver.
None of this makes sense unless you subscribe to the belief their are two classes of Citizens, vaccinated and unvaccinated.
