It’s a safe bet that senior citizens no longer go to the park to play checkers. That was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

In a totally different country that once existed long ago.

Reading this and the companion piece in the LA Times (https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-10-02/los-angeles-prepares-to-clear-homeless-from-macarthur-park-set-to-close-oct-15-for-rehabilitt) makes me so glad I don’t live in CA.

That worst-song-ever was the 1st thing that came to mind when I saw the headline-if I was in a car with a date, friends, etc and that song came on, everyone would scream turn that sh** off now-make it stop-until the driver found another station of turned off the stereo...

The guy I work for is from N California-went to LA for excitement when on leave from the military-he said MacArthur Park was actually a nice place-but that was a long time ago...

Two times in the 1970s the lake was drained in MacArthur Park and both times 100s of guns were discovered.

MS-13 can dictate to the LA city government.

Because the homeless, so-called, are a major source of MS-13’s drug sales, some of which funding goes to LA politicians as bribes, aka campaign donations.

The parents can object away, but they will be paying their property taxes which pay the teachers ; not paying taxes will encourage LA to seize their homes for unpaid taxes.

I tried to sound the alarm bells around 1992 forward. A lot
of folks here said it was California’s problem and dismissed
it. Now it’s a problem everywhere. I guess we should blame
it on states and towns now... /s

The federal government devises and enforces our immigration
policy. If they don’t do it, it makes if very hard for
anyone else to.

Los Angeles can’t simply deport people. We would turn them
over to the feds, and they would let them go.

We watch it, and we accept it.

I used to go to MacArthur Park as a kid. Now I wouldn’t dream of going there even as an adult.

THIS IS THE **S BACKWARD LEGACY LEFT BY THE HATE AMERICA KENYAN.....

(a) The Biden DOJ has stated that tax-paying parents objecting at school board meetings about COVID mandates and CRT are domestic terrorists, but,

(b) MS-13 illegal foreigners can dictate to the LA city government.

Very sad.

What even more nuts, is that it's reportedly an improvement:

scores that represent a slow upward trend over the past four years, according to data released Wednesday by the state Department of Education.

Agreed. Down a ways in that article, there is a chart that
shows the improved figures.

They play so many games, it’s not worth paying attention.

It’s all one big joke to them.

Nothing is getting better, but sure enough, when they decide
to act like they care, who do they ask to fix things? Why
the same folks and education agencies that devised the last
ten tries to come up with a better plan, each one failing
as miserably as could be.

I still say, our kids would be better off if we closed the schools
for a year and revamped education from the ground
up. Someone always chimes in and says how unfair that
would be to the kids. Why they’d graduate a year later.

Yeah they would. And hopefully able to read and do simple
math.

Nah, we just stick with what hasn’t worked and never will.

First of all, the NEA has got to go. End of story.

I suggest breaking up the schools and allowing a corporate
entity to come in and take over. Hire only non-union
people, and if they try to organize, simply dissolve the
school and start hiring again. Don’t hire in the same
idiots.

If done craftily enough, I think we could avoid unions,
give a better level of education, and start graduating
some kids who can support themselves in the future,
without becoming gangstas.
