South Pole posts most severe cold season on record, an anomaly in a warming world (It's obviously global warmings fault)
The Washington Post via the Seattle Times ^ | By Jason Samenow and Kasha Pate

Amid a record hot summer in large parts of Northern Hemisphere, beset by devastating fires, floods and hurricanes, Antarctica was mired in a deep, deep freeze. That’s typically the case during the southernmost continent’s winter months, but 2021 was different.

The chill was exceptional, even for the coldest location on the planet.

The average temperature at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station between April and September, a frigid minus-78 degrees (minus-61 Celsius), was the coldest on record, dating back to 1957. This was 4.5 degrees lower than the most recent 30-year average.

...Scientists stressed the record cold over the South Pole in no way refutes or lessens the seriousness of global warming. Antarctica is notorious for its wild swings in weather and climate which can run counter to global trends.

...Not only is Antarctica warming over the long term, but its ice is rapidly melting, contributing to sea level rise:

At the moment, though, the Antarctic cold is beyond numbing.

The temperature at the South Pole at the time of publication of this article on Oct. 1 was minus-67 degrees with a wind chill of minus-101.

It will continue to get colder. The Earth is tilting.

How convenient. Climate change is considered weather when it goes against their mantra.

We must stop global warming ASAP! The global warming is causing a whole new ice age all over the planet and we are all going to freeze to death unless we stop global warming NOW! Soros, Biden, the UN must do whatever it takes!

(Do I really need to add /sarc?)

This guy talks like 64 years is a long time.

In geologic time or the meteorologic time it is the blink of an eye.

The study of weather and climate is still in its infancy. The Earth’s weather is far to complex for their models to make more than a half axed guess

"Antarctica is notorious for its wild swings in weather and climate which can run counter to global trends."

So why not North America, South America, Asia or Europe? Why does only Antarctica have a lock on being "notorious for wild swings in weather and climate"?

We are supposed to believe these "wild swings" are neatly contained within the Antarctic Circle?

This is preposterous on the face of it.

Antarctica has been cooling and continues to accumulate more ice which is driving a world-wide sea level drop. There has been some melting around the Antarctica Peninsula due to apparently underwater volcanoes since the air temperature is dropping there as well.

They mention record heat but fail to mention the world-wide record cold like what occurred in Texas.

More of the unending lies on climate due to ‘global warming’ from the usual profoundly ignorant and stupid suspects.

Hot summer day? That’s proof — proof positive — of Global Warming.

Incredible cold on one of our continents? [shrug] that sort of “anomaly” is bound to happen and is best ignored.

Yep, record cold on a continent? It’s just part of the normal wild swings in weather and climate there. It’s just a “data outlier” and should be omitted from the data set.

Arctic and Antarctic ice thickness correlates with underwater volcano and “smoker” activity, not ambient air temperature. If geological activity lessens, there is more ice and local temperatures decline. How, when and where the heat is generated and released by the earth’s inner core is not well understood. Great climate shifts probably had more to do with core phenomena than any other factor.

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2021/10/02/the-new-pause-that-goes-on-giving/

There has been another “pause” in “global warming” that has now lasted for 6 years and 9 months. If it were not for “adjustments” made to the data that for some reason always results in more warming it would be even longer.

Of course solar irradiance, the amount of energy reaching the earth from the sun is cyclic and has been decreasing in recent years. Unfortunately the most accurate satellite measurements of this was shut down in 2020. But fear not global warming enthusiasts assure us that the sun has little to do with the temperatures on earth. This is all controlled by an essential trace gas called carbon dioxide which makes up just .04% of the atmosphere but without which most life on earth would cease to exist. This is what we call a “pollutant” in the new world.

Yo, scientists, a question from the back of the class? What is the melting point of ice in the Antarctic and, in an average year, how many days of the year does it reach or exceed that temperature? I’ll take my answer over the loudspeakers as I see myself to the delousing showers.

Amid a record hot summer in large parts of Northern Hemisphere, beset by devastating fires, floods and hurricanes,

&*&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&*&&&&&&&&&

Record hot summer??? The hottest I’ve ever seen it here wa the summer of 98, we got high temps of 106 to 108 in my back yard for 3 days at beginning of August. (and that’s in the shade, using a thermometer that was always within one deree of the weather guy on TV and the NOAA website). Normal hottestday of the yaear at that time was usully 104, with 105 thrown in now and then for good measure.

When I started seeing former dipstick in chief stompy feet claiming “hottest summer evah” for 3 years in a row, I noticed I hadn’t seen it get over 103 any of those years. Usually more like 101 or 102. I paid attention because I was often out in it taking pictures. If it got up to 104 again, I wanted to know so I could pick a spot with some good shade This year, I think we only hit 100 a couple of times. And I was on the coast fishing in that...(not a bite dammit)

Devastating fires, floods and hurricanes...well, yea a few fires, which would not have been as bad if wackifornia had done some sensible forestry a while back, one serious hurricane and some resulting damage and flooding, but I don’t think this year was anywhere near as bad asother years we’re seen.

Yes, we did see some damage but this article is a crock, they are trying to sensationalize a pretty wimpy year for natural disasters.

And what about the past 8 years of unusually harsh winters? I haven’t seen anyone even admit to that in print...People right here on FR have been commenting about the first cold snap being earlier than usual, the last one later than usual, having to wear a jacket earlier than normal, record snowfal and low temps, teh Texas ice storm last winter, I’ve noticed earlier coo speklls tan usual, Ialready hadtowear a jacket for the first time this year, it’s normally halloween weekend. 2 weeks ago I had to pull out a jacket. This spring I was still wearing one in late May, normally put up for the year in mid April. My neihbor just toldme his garden did nothing this year, probably due eto the late freeze. We usually have tomatoes blooming in late Feb...tomatoes the size of golf balls by mid march...didn’t warm up enough to transplant this year till early March...

Global warming is about to freeze me right out of here...

The colder it gets, the more global warming causes climate change. See how easy liberal logic is?

Unlikely, as buildings would start to fall over if we were.

No one! The lying left claim that any actual cooling is s perfectly in line with computer models for global warming’

You can’t win with these folks- they have a false claim to falesly refute every fact - if it’s sunny and hot, it’s climate change caused by man - if it’s cold and damp, its climate change caused by man - if it’s dark out side, its climate change caused by man - if it’s light outside, its climate change caused by man
