Lawmakers rally to cause of Marine jailed for Afghan criticisms

A growing number of conservative lawmakers on Capitol Hill are rallying to the cause of a Marine lieutenant colonel jailed this week for his outspoken and repeated criticism of his superiors and what he said was their failure to take responsibility for mishandling the chaotic final days of the U.S. war in Afghanistan.

Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller lost his job as commander of the Advanced Infantry Training Battalion at North Carolina’s Camp Lejeune after posting a video demanding accountability from top military leaders after the Aug. 26 suicide bombing at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Afghanistan. The attack killed 13 U.S. service members and more than 160 Afghan citizens. Col. Scheller followed up his criticism with several more online videos and even wrote about the gag order his superiors issued demanding he stop.

This week, he was moved to the brig at Camp Lejeune because the Marine Corps considers him a flight risk and thinks China could use his videos as fodder for anti-U.S. propaganda, according to someone familiar with the case against the Marine officer.

Col. Scheller’s father, in an interview with The Washington Times, called his son’s jailing “disgusting.”

At least three dozen lawmakers, led by Rep. Louis Gohmert, Texas Republican, have written to Gen. David H. Berger, the Marine Corps’ commandant and top legal officer, questioning the treatment of the lieutenant colonel.

You can’t just throw people into the stockade/brig.

They have to be a threat.

I don’t see that this guy is a threat.

That makes this an illegal incarceration.

Whoever ordered this needs to go to jail.

This is the Bee, right? A gaggle of 4-star generals who just threw their CINC under the bus for a debacle in Afghanistan that they were the commanders for, and now they want to jail a LtCol for asking for accountability for THEIR debacle, because it's the LtCol who is providing propaganda fodder for the CHICOMS?

And since when did the I will tell you if Trump is going to attack you China Milley care about the CHICOMS anyway? Or their propaganda?

No you didn't. You apparently passed the Pentagons' budget and added the odd $Billion hear and there.

If you cared about accountability you would have withheld the budget until certain conditions were met.

Several wrote letters to the DC Police.

And Ghomert and Marjorie Taylor Greene tried to visit them in prison to determine why they got no response from the DC police.

The ComDem regime believes they are totally above the law.

—”Whoever ordered this needs to go to jail.”

Clearly, this came from near the top.

A puppet master perhaps?

Find something and take care of this, just make it go away...we will remember you for it.
