Admittedly, the last time I was in Dollar Tree was some time ago. I tried to go to their “find a store” thing online and the page froze, and I’m much too lazy to sit and wait.

I don’t shop at Trader Joe’s, but someone told me that their “Two-Buck Chuck” wine is now “Three-Buck Chuck”.

That’s funny. Two Buck Chuck is “Charles Shaw” which we used to pronounce with a French accent “sharlsha”. It was two bucks back in the day when there was a wine glut - too productive a wine season. CS bought up all the excess inventory of grapes and excess capacity at wineries.

Back then I had a fairly large but tight group of friends/couples and every weekend we’d have extravagant dinner parties - each weekend we’d rotate houses. Emphasis on both the dinner and the party. People would come in with cases of the stuff. And we drank it all. Once we had a taste test and covered the bottles with foil to see if people could notice any difference between the $2 wine and the $20 wine etc. Most people actually preferred the sharlsha!

Not too long ago, the burger chain Carl’s Jr. offered what it dubbed the Six-Dollar Burger—a burger that cost about $2:50 but was supposedly the equivalent of a six-dollar burger at a fancy restaurant. Now, with the price of the Six-Dollar Burger shooting way past six dollars, it has been renamed the Thick Burger.

That actually might be more due to the fact that Carl's Jr. and Hardee's are the same. What's the difference between Hardee's and Carl's Jr

Forgot to mention that Hardee’s has had the “Thick Burger” for quite a long time. Note, you’ll generally find Carl’s Jr in the west and Hardee’s in the east, so you might not have been to a Hardee’s.

Carl’s Jr. eateries featured an American flag decal on the door back when they were owned by Carl Karcher, but these have long since vanished. In Anaheim, about six miles south of my home there is a street called Carl Karcher Way.

“I’ll have to do some research. *counts change and single bills in wallet* I can buy...three things!”

LOL! First chuckle of the day...

We have a Dollar Tree in the next town over that went up a few years ago. Things I normally buy there:

Greeting Cards
Cleaning Supplies
Books (you have to scrounge, but you can find some good stuff!)
Pretzels
Gift Wrap & Bags
Cheap shampoo and soaps

That’s about it. I avoid the China stuff, of course.

Here’s an other store that’s cropped up in the past years. Looks like it’s for the ‘wealthier’ among us, though. ;)
