For 9 specific budget items, filibuster is not allowed. This is NOT one of the budget items so 60 votes are required to end discussion (the filibuster) and vote where only a majority of votes are needed. I’m sure someone will correct me if I am terribly wrong.

The "essential" people in government will work, and will get paid.
The "non-essential" people will be sent home with no pay (but this will ALWAYS turn into a paid vacation as their pay will be returned to them after they spend their time at home doing nothing).

Pubbies have a version that has bi-partisan support but the Dems want their version to NOT pass so they can shut down the giver ment

This is the one with the debt limit suspension. If it passes the Rats will have the cover they need to ram-thru their $3.5t Mother of Socialism plan. Although it looks like that plan is anyway dead in the Senate.
