Meet the lawyers going viral who can’t seem to figure out how to get a driver’s license in Texas [Apparently, these lawyers don't know how to read and follow instructions]

lol this thread is something else. An attorney thinks you should be able to show up at a DMV with an out-of-state license, and get an in-state ID / voter registration without bringing proof of address in your own name. This is “voter suppression”?

Why are they doing that is a bigger question? Are they trying to figure out a path for other non-residents to ‘have a say in Texas politics’, as they now do in New Hampshire and Georgia?

“She did not change her name when she got married. Her husband took her name.”

Here is the problem. They wanted the marriage license to determine if they are actually married.

This brings to mind the Rashida Tlaib who married her brother to get through the immigration process.

I think there’s a song about that.

Sounds like she wouldn't have needed the marriage certificate if she had one document (utility bill, mortgage, lease, homeowner's or renter's insurance policy, etc.) that had *her* name on it. Everything was in her husband's name.

I don't know about everyone else, but moving and signing up for services and insurance takes time. My wife and I split the duties, so some were in my name and some in her name. Later, when allowed, we added both names.

It appears anyone can get a law license these days, no intelligence needed.

I was confused, but so were they?? Nuts

Rashida Tlaib’s ex-husband Fayez Tlaib is related to her mother

https://www.pacificpundit.com/2019/08/18/rashida-tlaibs-ex-husband-fayez-tlaib-is-related-to-her-mother/

WTF is with these left wing whack jobs in Congress? Ilhan Omar reportedly married her brother and now Rashida Tlaib’s ex husband Fayez Tlaib is allegedly related to Rashida’s mother. WTF is it with socialist/communist anti-Semitic Democrats and their marrying of relatives? Fayez Tlaib and radical Rashida divorced in 2015 and they had two sons.

Thank for the explanation. It has been at least 10 years since I moved.

Lost my wife of 47 years in 2018. I married again a year ago. We had an issue due to the Covid insanity of over her driver’s license. She got her SS card changed without much effort, some delay. But there was no place we could go to have her name changed on her driver’s license. It cause some insane stuff with an insurance company. That is a long story I would prefer to forget.

“She got her SS card changed without much effort, some delay.”

Did she have trouble finding someone that spoke English at the SS office?

Funny...although I've *never* been mistaken for a rocket scientist I have recently succeeded in 1) renewing my driver's license (yet again) 2) getting a license to carry (very complicated in my state) 3) getting a job working for the Federal Government (surprisingly complicated,at least to me) 4) Getting a NEXUS card (which requires a background check by the US and Canadian governments) 5) Getting a "Real ID" from my state's DMV (a real pain in the a$$) 6) renewing my passport.

But then I'm white so I guess racism allowed me to do all those things despite my admittedly limited IQ.

I honestly do not get why any marriage license was needed. If she never changed her name and her birth certificate and SS card reflected that it should have been enough. Whether her husband took her surname is immaterial unless he was applying for a license as well.

I don’t know.

I think she is making a lot out of nothing. Suspect she is playing a political game to complain about TX having election laws written to avoid election fraud.

Will not speculate past that. It does not pass the smell test.
