Chemi Peres, Chairman of the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, on Saturday, participated virtually in an event in Erbil, Kurdistan, alongside 300 Sunni community leaders, activists and members of the armed forces, calling for normalization with Israel.

Organized by the New York-based Center for Peace Communications (CPC) this was the first such event of its kind.

Addressing the plenary, Peres used the platform to call to advance the vision of his father, the late Israeli President and statesman Shimon Peres, of normalization and peace across the region.

Calling the event historic and inspirational, Peres described the event as an opportunity to solidify the historical ties between Iraq, or ancient Babylon, and the Jewish people, whose culture was influenced significantly by the ancient Jewish community which once thrived there.

Biden will claim credit for this, too. Because he needs a win, whether he deserves one or not. Is it possible that this is just normalization with the Kurds, as opposed to greater Iraq. If it is, that's even more positive. The non-Arab ethnics in the Middle East can be natural allies of Israel, and thereby buffer the more hostile Arab majorities. This is my pet idea: EMA (Eastern Minorities Alliance), with Israel in a pivotal role.

Agree about the Kurds. It is well known that 400,000 Kurdish Jews were moved from Iraq to Israel and other places. Peace among them is a natural thing to pursue.

Also, the Egyptian People are NOT from Arabic bloodlines. Many are Muslim, but Egypt is not like most of the Middle East. They also have a long history of Jewish connections.

Neither, really, are many Syrians. Islam spread by commerce and conquest, and prefers Arabic linguistic imperialism, thus marginalizing Syriac, Copt, Berber, Aramaic, and other indigenous languages of the region, except where there’s a strong enough dominant language, such as Kurdish, Urdu, Pashto or Farsi.

The Near East is a cornucopia of cultural, religious and linguistic diversity. It was the Lawrentine pan-Arabists in the British Empire who chose to promote Arabic Sunni Muslim interests over the others, and the region has suffered as a result. This has to change.

You and I will not solve the issues in the Middle East.

God Will.

That does not mean we should not advocate peace and honest government.

Don’t expect man to accomplish much there.

Trump made a good start. Now the Godless Left in the Xi-O’Biden regime are trying to wreck all of that.

Honestly, many leaders in the ME did/do like President Trump.
